OVERVIEW

Fantastic for live vocal applications!

If you want your vocals to be heard, the Shure Beta 58A Mic is built to make it happen. It's a high-output, supercardioid dynamic microphone designed for professional sound reinforcement and project studio recording. This has made it a leading choice among vocalists and touring musicians worldwide.

The Beta 58A maintains a true supercardioid pattern throughout its frequency range (50Hz-16kHz) and a shaped frequency response that is ideal for close-up vocals. Its neodymium magnet provides high sensitivity and output. The superb performance of this microphone is not affected by rough handling because of its rugged construction, proven pneumatic shockmount system, and hardened steel mesh grille. So whether you hold it in your hand or mount in on a stand, you'll get the kind of sound you planned.

FEATURES
  • Frequency response tailored for vocals, with brightened midrange and bass roll-off to control proximity effect
  • Uniform supercardioid pattern for high gain before feedback and superior rejection of off“axis sound
  • Neodymium magnet for high signal“to“noise output
  • Hardened steel mesh grille that resists wear and abuse
  • Advanced pneumatic shock mount system that minimizes transmission of mechanical noise and vibration
  • Minimally effected by varying load impedance
  • Legendary Shure quality and reliability

I've been using a Shure SM58 for long time, I saw some good reviews on the Beta model and thought I would give it a try, for my surprise and delight, I was intensely pleased with this model, I could feel the difference from the first "test, 1, 2, 3", procedure, noted a pristine response in every aspect. It is now my stage microphone.

I've been a guitarist for 13 years and my father has been a drummer and guitarist since 1962. For at least a decade his Shure Beta 58a was his "go to" live mic. We planned on purchasing 3 more Beta 58s for our studio/performance space, but right before biting the bullet I decided to see what else is out there. After reading a lot of reviews I decided to try two other mics: Electro-Voice N/D767a ($129) and Heil Sound PR-35 ($274). We now own both. First the Electro Voice (EV) arrived. We could not believe how much better it sounded than the SM58. Clearer and more powerful than the Beta 58a. Dad immediately swore off his old Shure. The next day the Heil arrived. It was hotter and beefier than both the EV and the Shure. Now we both have our own Heil PR-35, and the EV is used by guest vocalists. If you can afford it, get the Heil PR 35, it's a big sounding vocal mic, but if you can't afford it get the EV N/D767a. Both mics sound a lot better than the Beta 58a, which is lifeless and boring in comparison. Plus the EV is less expensive than the Shure. The Beta 58a may be a step up from the SM58, but it's a step down from the EV or the Heil. The Shure has been retired to a box as a backup.

Comments about Shure Beta 58A Mic:

This Mike sounds great when Miking a guitar cab. I used it for lead vocals. It is very clear and balance. You could get very loud or very soft with this Mike and you will have no problems. great for cutting down on feedback also.

Comments about Shure Beta 58A Mic:

The Beta is definitely a step up from my Shure 58s! Have always used a 58 until I started borrowing my friend's Beta 58A. Really liked it...had to have one! Fuller, richer sound, for sure!

This mic is great for the person that does not project their voice loud enough. Used this mic for a female singer whose voice needed a boost and got the sound we needed . Great mic

Comments about Shure Beta 58A Mic:

This mic needs no introduction. This is the updated SM-58 (which is STILL the most most durable mic of all time). If you like the 58, this has just a slight higher rage for a crispier high.

I am a singer who gets right on the mic and this mic is perfect for me. I roll back the bass a bit and put my mouth right on the microphone. The results are awesome. Nice out front vocal that is crystal clear. My voice is a bit husky and this thing just does the trick. I've used it for 8 years now and do not plan on switching. I have even used it on some of my albums to add a little edginess to my vocal and it did just what I wanted it to.
