Buy Sennheiser e604's instead

Comments about Shure Beta 98AD/C Drum Mic:

I'm a professional drummer and engineer that has used the beta 98's dozens of times on my toms in live shows. These things look cool, but there are so many reasons why they're a pain to deal with. First off, the clamps don't even fit on some tom hoops. The thin goose neck design won't stay in its original position, which makes it nearly impossible to find the sweet spot. They're condenser mics which means they need 48v phantom power, more cymbal bleed, and they're more fragile than dynamic mics. I've had the heads come off multiple times in a set. Lastly, they make your toms sound like cardboard in comparision to the Sennheiser e604 and you can nearly buy two 604s for the price of one beta 98. So do yourself a favor, get the Sennheiser e604s for way less money and your toms will sound better than ever.

    Great Microphone

Comments about Shure Beta 98AD/C Drum Mic:

The mere size of the Shure Beta 98AD/C should not alarm you. The fact that the microphone is so small makes it great for placement on a snare and/or tomtoms. The conversion cord to XLR has plenty of length and the Drum mounts allows for optimal positioning. Shure always makes the best.

    Shure Beta 98A mic/mount

    By Don Hecklinski

    from Birmingham, AL

Comments about Shure Beta 98AD/C Drum Mic:

great. very satisfied. will eventually pick up more for other drums & hihat. our sound guy says it's as good as any full size mic from his vantage point.
The Shure Beta 98A mic & mount is a great option for micing snare drums. I've used a mic stand with an Audix i5 for the past 5 years. Looking for a way to haul fewer pieces to gigs every weekend. picked up the Beta 98A and mount. works perfect. size makes it perfect for a mount. didn't notice any difference in the sound from the i5. easy to assemble/mount/connect. long adapter cord that comes with the mic/mount is awesome.
have not experienced any problems yet...comparable to the Audix i5 but 10 times smaller
a little pricey...two bills. but size makes it worthwhile. packs up in a small carrying case.
