Comments about Shure GLX-D16 Wireless System with GLX-D6 Wireless Guitar Pedal:

Never used a wireless unit before but was looking to end the constant tripping and cord wrapping around my leg at gigs. Had witnessed the battery run outs during sets/rehearsals and interference problems of other players over the years so I did some research and decided on the GLX-D.

Was sold on the the digital transmission to eliminate possible interference and long battery life from the rechargable nicad battery. Had also seen reports that the sound of the guitar was not degraded and liked the foot pedal style receiver.

Well, it's all true. This thing is awesome! Used the GLX-D this weekend for a reheasal and gig and it was beautiful. Used it for about 7 or 8 hours so far on a single charge and still have plenty of battery left. No interference or drop outs whatsover. And best of all, not only is the sound of my guitar not affected negatively, I think it actually sounds better. Could be my imagination but perception is reality!

No tripping or stumbling and able to step out front and check out the overall sound of the band etc. and stalk the audience with no problem. Wireless freedom is a beautiful thing.

And this system is built like a tank. Played in a tight venue with dancers right on top you and no stage. I use an amp stand and can't put anything on my amp cause of the tilt so due to space limitations had the receiver behind me on the floor. Bad spot. Actually stepped on it a couple times and sent it in to tuner/mute mode. Both times during a solo of course. Revovered quickly but the takeaway is if I'd been using a traditional box receiver or Line 6 style receiver with antennaes sticking out and knobs on the top it wouldn't have been good. This thing is made to be stomped on so no problem.

Yes you can get digital wireless systems for less but this thing is the bomb as they say. If you can afford the extra money definitely get one of these.

Comments about Shure GLX-D16 Wireless System with GLX-D6 Wireless Guitar Pedal:

If you are considering going wireless, this is for you. Simple, reliable, and absolutely zero difference in sound or tone from "corded". Amazing.

Battery life is great--I played 2 shows last Saturday, and I don't think it went below half. Charges fully in like 45 minutes.

A fantastic device. Go the extra clams and get one of these. Buy quality. It will change your guitar-playing life, I promise. You'll keep looking down for the cord as you step back, but its not there. Freedom!

get a 90 degree guitar plug

By Zane

from Blue Ridge Mt. NC

Comments about Shure GLX-D16 Wireless System with GLX-D6 Wireless Guitar Pedal:

This is my second review. I love this system, but the cable that comes with this unit isn't suited for guitars that require a 90 degree instrument plug. The 90 degree cable is part number SHURE WA-304. I had to call SHURE to get this information. M.F. Didn't know they had it. Order the cable when you order this unit unless you only need a straight plug.

Comments about Shure GLX-D16 Wireless System with GLX-D6 Wireless Guitar Pedal:

I am a professional bassist with 20+ years of experience. I got tired of running rack mount wireless systems which then require I run a cable 25' to my pedal board and then 25' back to the amplifier head. I was using the Line 6 Relay Systems for a while because of the fact that they were the only game in town with a pedal receiver that could mount to your pedal board thus eliminating that extra 25' cable run. Over a period of time the Line 6 units had issues and Line 6 customer support was ATROCIOUS!

I was VERY pleased to see that Shure finally came up with a competetive product and immediately bought one. The tuner works flawlessly and is very fast at tracking. The wireless has amazing range with no sound clarity or dropout issues. I bought 2 extra transmitters and integrated all 3 into the receiver for quick guitar switches on stage. Quite bluntly....this unit is the best out there of it's type!

The ONLY Con I have is that there is no tuner output....but I just run a pass through tuner in my board for tuning on the fly. (I use the Shure as a kill switch for my signal when tuning).

It does require a higher amperage but is easily powered with the right power supply (I use the Voodoo Labs 4x4)

Top Notch!

By Eric

from CA

Comments about Shure GLX-D16 Wireless System with GLX-D6 Wireless Guitar Pedal:

I'm a bass player. This is a replacement for a Line6 G30 that had constant drop outs and cheap plastic. Not a single drop out so far. The build quality on both trans and receiver is superior. Solid metal housings. Rechargeable Lithium Ion battery is a big plus. One charge lasts for many gigs. Don't have to carry a dozen AA batteries around.
Save yourself some aggrevation. It's well worth paying the higher price.

Comments about Shure GLX-D16 Wireless System with GLX-D6 Wireless Guitar Pedal:

If you're like me you are reading this review because you read EVERY review of every product you are considering. For me it came down to this wireless unit and one other one by another company that offers similar features that I won't mention by name but I'm sure you know. I ended up buying this one because I saw too many 'drop out' complaints about the other company's unit. All I can tell you is about the Shure: Buy it. It's perfect in nearly everyday. Receiver and belt pack built like tanks. Solid metal. Zero tonal loss or change. I A/B'd it and noticed know differences. I've been playing live in bar bands for 20 years and have had wireless units from several major brands. All pale in comparison to this. Turn it on and it's good to go. No signal loss hundreds of feet away or through walls. Fits on my pedal board easily. The rechargeable battery is awesome. It charges quick and lasts forever. Multiple gigs. Finally, the only flaw is the cord. I love that it is detachable because the one from Shure is pretty wimpy looking. I instantly bought an angled replacement for pretty cheap and use the Shure as a spare. Love this unit. Just buy it. Shure has been in the marketplace forever for a reason. No tricks. No gimmicks. Just a great unit.

    Built To Be On-Stage

    By Bronchnu

    from Spartanburg, SC

Comments about Shure GLX-D16 Wireless System with GLX-D6 Wireless Guitar Pedal:

Have used many wireless systems. The Shure GLX D system sits conveniently first on my pedal board where it serves two purposes; wireless receiver and tuner. As a wireless system, the range is great. No worries about dropped signals. The tuner works great. It's built very tough and the transmitter battery lasts very long on one charge. Bought the car charger but so far have not had to use it. The display could be a bit brighter but I think that's being very picky!

Comments about GLX-D16 Wireless System with GLX-D6 Wireless Guitar Pedal:

The GLX-D6 Wireless Guitar Pedal system is an excellent solution for pedal board users who need the convenience of a wireless system without having to add extra gear to your setup. Most pedalboard users employ a tuner pedal on their board, so the integrated tuner in the GLX-D6 system saves space on your board.

This system is easy as pie to get up and running right out of the box. I have gigged with my GLX-D6 a few times now and every time it has performed flawlessly with no problems. I love the features such as being able to recharge the battery in the transmitter as well as the ability to monitor the remaining battery life. I did purchase an extra battery and cradle charger so I always have a backup just in case.

The sound of this system is great. I have experienced no issues with drop outs or interference. The components seem sturdy and well constructed.

I would recommend this wireless system to anyone wanting a well made, great sounding, professional-grade wireless guitar system.

Comments about Shure GLX-D16 Wireless System with GLX-D6 Wireless Guitar Pedal:

This unit is amazing. Simple as that. I looked at this unit for 2 years before finally taking the plunge. The biggest pro about this wireless system is the rechargeable battery. It's so nice knowing you don't have to go out and spend more money on batteries just to keep you're unit running. This thing is also built like a tank! It is all METAL. Transmitter and receiver. Don't believe the people that say it's plastic. IT'S NOT! Having a tuner built into the reciever because it kicks my own tuner off my pedalboard. The display on the reciever is nice and bright. Should be easily viewable on a dark or even well lit stage. Another thing people are always concerned about is if it effects your tone. To my own ears it does not. My Gibson explorer has a very distinct and heavy sound. I do not notice any difference while using this unit. There's not much else to say. This thing is built like a tank, reliable and gig ready. I will say if your considering other wireless units in this price range from other brands, just save a little extra cash for this one. Shure will NOT fail or dissapoint you!

Comments about Shure GLX-D16 Wireless System with GLX-D6 Wireless Guitar Pedal:

Wow! I'm impressed. As stated, both the pedal unit and body pack have solid construction, and certainly road-worthy components. The features are right on target. Love the built-in tuner (does away with my other tuner), and the battery meter takes the guess work out of changing or charging batteries. Great product! The only issue I've had thus far was audio noise when I muted or unmuted the pedal. I called the Shure support guys, and they set me straight. Turns out I was using power from a daisy chained power supply cable, and the power supply wasn't producing enough current. As soon as I starting using the power supply that came with the unit, no more noise. I'm assuming I could move to a beefier power supply and that would address the issue. Love it!
