I use the SLX system plugged straight into the amp. The companding is great, command of sound from the guitar, tone and touch sensitivity, is not lost, and maybe even enhanced a bit. I've used mine for more than 200 gigs and it has performed flawlessly.

Upon first use, I LOVED the Shure SLX guitar wireless system. It was very easy to install with the included rack hardware. I didn't notice hardly any change in tone, which tends to be the big issue with a wireless system. My guitarist and bassist also got this system... unfortunately about a month after getting these, 2 of the 3 power supplies failed. After replacement, now noticing some degrade in tone. 1 system still working great. If we can get these 2 replaced, still love them!

Like everybody else, I was afraid of losing tone over radio waves, dropouts, etc... The day it came in the mail I hurried to our jam spot and added it to my rig. First thing I did after powering it up was crank my amp and walk down the street. The range is, as they say, right around 300ft, but tonally didn't seem much, if at all different than my monster cable it replaced.The only flaws..ONLY flaws I can find is that the entire portion that is rack mounted is metal while the body pack, the part you run around with and fall on is plastic. I wouldn't have minded so much if it was the other way around. Second, every piece of hardware is provided except the 2 screws that mount the power pack. That's nothing that one drawer in the kitchen full of things you'll never need can't fix. I considered the Line6's X2 XDR95 but went with this and I think I am happier for it.

We used 7 of these with countrymen headsets at the last musical we did at the Arts Magnet Highschool i work at, and despite my fear of them getting broken, and them being occasionally dropped by students, the clarity and quality shined through.

I suggested to my bands other guitarist and bassist that we should get these, because you couldnt roam free on stage without tripping on the cables. SO we got these and... No problems anymore! I like it when it tells if the battery is low. It works like a dream. If you play in a band in casinos or something like that you ought to get this!

Works excellent with 5 and 4 string electric bass guitar. I was extremely impressed with how fast and easy it setup with no intervention on my part. I hardly touched the owners manual. The frequency response was a major concern since my band tunes one half step down. Both my Fender Jazz 5-string and Carvin Icon 5-string basses sound excellent through the Shure SLX wireless. I highly recommend this unit to 5-string Bass Guitarists.

My band is starting to play bigger stages and have been talking about wireless systems for a while now. We were always worried about the sound but I can honestly say the sound got better for me (bass). The other 2 guitarists didnt have any problems either. It's really easy to use and the battery light was a great idea to let you know when the battery is getting low. It felt kind of weird at first b/c we were always fixing the cords or kicking them out of the way and after we went wireless we were sliding our feet as if we were gonna move the cords with our feet but there werent any there. The reason I didnt give this a perfect 5 is b/c nothing is perfect but this is probably as close as you will get. Don't get a cheap unit to try to save money b/c the quality is totally different. Pick your gear like you play. Meaning if you play half-a**ed buy half-a**ed gear. If you play seriously get this system!!

i must say i love this wirelesswhen i first bought it i was kinda afraid that it wouldnt be as good as everyone said i plugged it in and it pretty much sounded like i exspected then i decided to replace the batteries in my bass walla that fixed the problem then i plugged a monster cable into it and it sounded even betterthis wireless is absolutely clear and sounds beautiful if you want a wireless and you own an ampeg this will go well with your combo

I have had a SLX4 for 5 years now and it's been through hell and back. Not once has it gone down on me, outside of the cable, which I abused.It is totally road worthy and will work in any atmosphere from arenas to casinos, where RF is always a nightmare.Can't say enough good things about it.
