I recently rented this wireless from a local music store to play at LRSFest in Louisville, KY...which, for the many who don't know, usually runs 20,000 people strong. I had to have a wireless that I could rely on, so I rented this Shure "The Guitarist" wireless system. Needless to say, it performed incredibly. The tone was spot on, it was easy to operate and lightweight, but I did have to duct tape the unit onto my bass strap for protection, mainly because the belt clip doesn't function too well. Not only that, it was a rental, so you know it's made to handle the abuse that it receives well. Believe it or not, the day before the show, I hooked up my bass rig and walked (and this is NO lie) four blocks away from my house and I could STILL HEAR MYSELF IN THE DISTANCE, even if the signal was delayed by about five seconds. An incredible value for the price, and it helped me perform perfectly at the big show, LRSFest with Chevelle and Finger Eleven.

I bought this unit from a local store last night and am planning on returning it today. I'll admit that the sound quality and range are excellent. I was able to crank up my Marshall and walk down the street and it was still receiving my signal. Now for the bad stuff. The belt clip is so cheap and non functional, I had to use tape to attach it to my guitar strap, and the transmitter is real bulky. Being that I wasn't sure if I wanted to keep the unit, I used a strip of scotch tape, but in reality you'd need to wrap it a couple of times with duct tape. Gripe number 2, Where's the on/off button??? If I want to use this on a daily basis, I'd have to yank the plug out of the back and inevitably it was falling behind the amp stack. Not a good thing. I'm going to purchase the AKG instead. Smaller transmitter and an on/off button. I don't know how the quality of the transmission is on the AKG, but I'm willing to sacrifice. And it's the same price.

Must have for bassists!

By GrooveMaster

from Los Angeles, CA

If you are bassist and dont want to sacrifice any low end, this is the wireless unit for you. Your bass guitar will rumble nice and clear, even at high volumes. I would crank my warwick through an Eden WT-800 and 2 410xlt's and you could not tell the difference between my monster cable and the UT14. That's just how good the UT14 is. And if it can handle a bass, you know it can take on any guitar.

Excellent sound quality

Very easy to use. The sound quality beats out Nady ten to one!

a bit disappointing

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

Looked forward to receiving the unit, but was disappointed in the tone. Lack a little bit of top end and the circuitry has some kind of noise gate built in. This actually softens the attack of staccato notes, which, again, was not what i was looking for. I'm going back to a long lead until i find a better wireless system.

this thing is awesome

By rocker30216

from los angeles

I bought this as my 1st wireless system and was pretty shocked by how good it sounded and performed. I mainly play les pauls thru a marshall mg100hdfx half stack and this thing rocks. I was surprised that i can walk into other rooms, thru crowds, and i have yet to find a dead spot. I've only owned this a few months but so far this thing is awesome and well worth the price.

Shure, I own it

By Marshall Man-UjQZM

Have played 4 gigs with this out fit, works great. Nodrop in volume or in tone quality. I forgot to put up the rabbit ears once and it still worked great, can't beat that with a stick.

Well let me just say, this kicks ***! You can walk through crowds, to different rooms, and anywhere without it cutting out! This is the best wireless system I've ever used! Still haven't found a dead spot, (thank god).

Product works great! I will recommend this product. Transmitter needs better clipping mechanics for more secure fit, other than that, what are you waiting for? Go get one!

Awesome

By St. Jimmy-qBRJ-

I've been playing around with other wireless units for some time now and this is the best. You don't have to mess with anything to fix your tone. Just plug it in and it sounds amazing. Pretty close to using a cable. Well worth the money.

Didn't Work For Me!

By Jesse Walter

from Dunkirk, MD

I went through two of these. On the first one I had the signal would peak and cut out. I even tried it with the gain turned all the way down on the transmitter. I took it back to where I bought it and the sales person had the same problem with it. We tried another one they had in stock and it had the same problem but not quite as bad. He told me that he has not seen this problem before and have sold many units. They gave me my money back. I did like the design of it and wish it would have worked. The unit had very good range and was crystal clear with no "hiss" sound like some others I've tried. Maybe Shure just had a bad batch because the other reviews here look good. Unlike others reviews here, I liked the design of the transmitter, although I only owned it for a couple days.
