Almost perfect DI Box for keyboards

By Slash-AWj_-

from Chicago

Comments about SM Pro Audio Q-DI 4-Channel DI Box and Line Mixer:

The DI box to FOH set-up is a no-brainer. This unit allows you to simplify the mix to your keyboard amp/monitor on stage. If you use 3 keyboards with mono outputs, most DI boxes would send 3 cables to your stage amp. With this unit, you can send just one XLR cable to your stage amp. Here's how: 1)pan inputs 1 - 3 hard right. 2)Use a RCA to 1/4" phone plug cable to connect Aux Out R to input 4 3)Connect XLR output 4 to your stage amp 4)Set mix level for input 4 to zero and attenuate -20db. 5)Set stage mix using input level dials for channels 1 - 3.Your stage mix will be consistent for every show and you will have fewer cables to connect. If you insist on using stereo keyboard signals, this is probably not the best product for you. However, if you use more than one keyboard, let the soundman pan your mono keyboard sends. Otherwise, stereo is a wasted effect for most venues.

DI or Mixer? Pick One

By pbrycem

from Lansing, Michigan

Comments about SM Pro Audio Q-DI 4-Channel DI Box and Line Mixer:

This is NOT a DI Mixer. It is a 4-channel DI. It is a mixer. But it is not both. If you want a mixer, buy a mixer. The mixed signal coming out of this thing is unbalanced, plus the jacks are RCA. I thought I was going to be able to mix 2 stereo keyboards & send a balanced stereo signal to FOH. I ended up hooking up my 2 other DI boxes to the output of this to achieve my goal. Why do I have to hook up DI's to my new DI? Because it's not a DI Mixer. It's one or the other, but not both. The unit seems well-made and solid. It seems to work just fine as 4 separate DI's.
