    New Sounds

    Features:

    Vocalizer is a unique instrument.

    A Vocoder has 2 audio inputs, one usually a synth, the other a voice, which makes the synth talk.

    A Soft Synth has one midi input which determines the pitch of the synth output.

     

    Vocalizer has 1 audio and 1 midi input. The pitch and various other harmonics are removed from the audio and the pitch is determined by the midi input. This creates anything from the audio re-pitched to freakish sounds.

     

    CAUTION: do NOT twiddle the knobs wearing headphones or with your speaker volume up. Vocalizer will make sounds that are as loud as you equipment will produce. Yes, my hearing has recovered!

    Quality:

    Unique sounds for sure. However, just like any instrument they tend to be somewhat similar. Using drums for the audio will produce some great rhythmic sounds.

     

    As has been stated in another review, be sure your DAW will work. I used SONAR 8.5 which worked perfectly. Once I got it working, I had no problems at all.

    Value:

    The price seems somewhat reasonable.

    Overall:

    Vocalizer did the job I bought it for, which was a robot quartet.

    Be prepared to spend some time twiddling.

    Might not work with your DAW

    Make sure that your software supports porting midi to an audio track. Will not work in Acid Pro 7, because of this. Works with cubase, fl studio, pro tools, and others, but not Acid Pro.
