Has it's problems, but not bad for the money

By Karaoke with Keith

from Tallahassee, FL

Comments about Stanton CM.205 CD / MP3 Player with Mixer:

I've owned my Stanton CM.205 for about a year, having upgraded from the Numark Fusion 111 set. Although it is far more reliable in playing my CDs than the 111, after about 6 months of steady use it would stop reading discs in the left player, and would not read until about an hour after popping in a CD. I circumvent the problem by plugging in a portable CD player or my laptop to the line-in for that side until it warms up. I gig 2 or 3 times weekly and use the system both as a backup for my karaoke gigs and for regular dance gigs and private parties and weddings. So when I need a fast setup, the left side not playing for an hour or more (or not at all) is annoying. Also, not long after the ?no disc? error started showing up, the fader became unreliable, with the music in the right side still audible when the slider is all the way to the left. The bleed-over in the headphone fader is similarly unreliable, with both channels audible when the selector is all the way to the right. I solve this problem by sliding it back just a millimeter or so to isolate the right channel in the headphones.Other than that, I love the all-in-one design, the external line inputs, the large easy-to-read display, and how lightweight, compact, and portable it is. You can?t scratch or loop or do any advanced DJ?ing, but for straight old-school mixing by ear, it?s a workable system. Set-up is a snap. In the year that I?ve had it, I think I?ve gotten my money?s worth out of it. But as my DJ skills and needs have grown, I?ve also outgrown this basic system. But it?ll do until I can upgrade again.

I been a dj for 20 year and the cdm 205 works well

Comments about Stanton CM.205 CD / MP3 Player with Mixer:

I been dj for twenty years and i owned many cd mixers. The cd205 works well it lacks thump and all your cd's must get rerecorded. Your computer burning speed must be program to 8x in order to prolong your system. I notice that if you play any cd either bootleg or the oringal the system CM205 will crash or malfunction. The cm 205 is a fragile system . I really dont trust the cm 205 to rock a party, but its good for beginner who want to fool around for a while.

Well Designed

By Uncle Willie

from Cross Junction, VA

Comments about Stanton CM.205 CD / MP3 Player with Mixer:

I bought it for the integrated top-load design, styling and AC power cord. Setup is a snap with only one stereo connection to the main amp. I usually use a keyboard amp for portability and sometimes add a guitar and vocal solo over CDR accompaniment. The CM.205 plays CDR mixes flawlessly and the anti-skip appears to work well. The unit is bigger and heavier than the picture suggests, which makes for a stable platform for faithful reproduction. It lacks thump and scratch, but works well with an adult audience who simply want a good continuous music mix. Thanks, Stanton for a really well designed product.
