I was very impressed by the stanton S 550 it is very good value for its price. It has better control than most dual cd players with the same or lower price. It's only flaw is the timing ,you have to be precise and its kind of difficult but other than that it's a very good dual cd player.
Player #1- Quit reading the disc after only 2 or 3 hrs of use on #1 side. Returned for Player #2-After 3 to 4 hrs. of use, side #2 reads disc but skips, speeds up,slows down, throughout the songs, tried 5 different discs and the same thing happens.Going to return this one too, havent decided if their is going to be #3.
This is a good entry level dual deck. Like others have said before, the loop is not seamless. However, I think the start button is truly instant, but the rubber button itself is what makes the starting a bit unreliable. I wish it was a rigid piece of plastic or metal, but oh well. I also wish that they interchanged the scan/pitch bend functions on the jog dial. It's kind of hard to pitch bend using the jog wheel.
It's Cheap - Get what U pay 4like the price implies.HOWEVER, it's reliable so far. I've owned it now for about 2 months as my back up while my Dennon get's fixed. ---> Comparing it to Denon 2500.The cue is slow.
Instant start, excellent looping and most importantly, it is the cleanest sounding dual cd player I have ever experienced! And guess what folks - I intend to buy another for my system at home!! Thank you Stanton!
I have used this product for over two years. It's been used many hours. The only problem i have had is twice when I blew the breaker, when the unit powered back up it would not read the CD. I had to reset the power again.
I agree that the Stanton is worth its price. It's good to get you started if you have NEVER used a Dual DJ CD player before. If you have, then you would agree with me when I say that the play button should cause instant play... but it does not!!! You end up messing up your mix timing because of this. And please... I think seamless loops are not expensive to implement. This product will surely impress your non DJ friends, but forget it if you want to grow up with this CD player.
The S-550 wasn't of too much use for me personally, but I guess for its price it's fine. Downpoints though, include the loop function which is NOT seamless (you get a pause after the end of the loop) and a horribly inaccurate and unpredictable start button. You push start, and sometimes it'll start just like that (snap!), and other times it'll take a second. Granted, you can correct it in a second, but at the peak hour of the mix, that timing is crucial, and this thing'll screw you over, man. But it's not bad at all for the price. Really the only reason I didn't like it was simply cuz it was the wrong equipment to be using and I was a beginner at the time I got it so I didn't realize it.
