OK.. so after testing out the ST 150 with the Shure M44-7 cartridges the skip was minimum after angling the cartridges. But then I bought the STR8 150s for more skip resistance. After testing these out with the Shure M44-7 cartridges, they are the best. The needle does not move even on the craziest scratches, i am very impressed with the STR8 150s. These are really for the scratching DJ.

While everybody only looks at the outside

inside, i can tell you that the used capa-
citors(a lot)are from the brand su'scon,
and those are very low quality caps.
The pcb's are except the mainboard of poor quality. The way the power is supplied is done with a range of coupled
voltage regulators, 7800 and 7900,which design is from the seventies and a lot of energy is turned into heat. And i've read stories from people where the table stopped after an hour ,playing on a party. That's the thermal protection of the ic's which get too hot.
There is no reason why the upperdeck plate weights 10kg without anything on it, but it makes the cheap feet, totally useless .I've rebuild them both totally,
including bearing of the stator and replaced all capacitors and put some better ic's in it an made an hole in the owercase, because there's allmost no ventilation and standard cooling blocks are allmost touching the downplate.
And i use other feet, made for this weight.
Be smart, buy a technics, cause all kinds of new gear is made for it, better then the original and when it comes to spare parts for an oem table.....you don't find it....
Those capacitors will blow after 2 a 3 years, cause thy cost a couple of cents....

Comments about Stanton STR8-150 Digital Turntable:

phono + digital outputs with built in pre-amp a plus.

the directions are a big vague and tricky..took a bit of trial and error to get it running if you've never dealt with turntables before. but with everything theres always that learning curve.

wish it had a dust cover for home use, but that's my only complaint.
also i'm still confused about the anti-skate dial, cause there are no numbers on it, so i have no clue how to set that up with the dial given

Comments about Stanton STR8-150 Digital Turntable:

I'm enormously impressed with the Stanton STR8.150. I was expecting it to be high quality, but my expectations have been exceeded. It's built like a tank, that is, if they built tanks in Switzerland. The power of the motor, and the control is amazing. In retrospect, perhaps I should have purchased the ST.150 S-shaped tonearm version. At the same time, I'm not hearing any distortion from edge to center. If there's anything happening with a straight arm, it must be subtle. A spherical stylus is probably a good idea on this turntable, though.

    Sweet Deck!

    By DJ-Eremy

Comments about Stanton STR8-150 Digital Turntable:

I purchased the STR8 last November, no Tech 12s in town and I needed a second deck for a gig that weekend. Ended up buying it blind and since have added 3 more 150's for a total of 4. I run a mobile DJ company and have used the Techs for over 20 years now. (I even have two Tech 1300s:)). I won't be going back. The Stanton is my table of choice from now on. The only knock I have is on the counter weight. Could be a bit better quality, but it does the trick. Love the cart, the speed, the brake, the weight of the whole unit, and aesthetically....a great looking deck. VERY impressed!

Comments about Stanton STR8-150 Digital Turntable:

I just bought a pair of the STR8-150s and it exceded all my expectations. The STRs have built in grounds and with out a dought has the best motor. I have spun on Vestex, Technics, and Numarks, but the 8-150 has been flawless yet. I have old beat up battle records that have been unusable for years. The records would always jump on me when I was scratching or phrasing, but when I threw them on the STR8-150s the tables were FLAWLESS. This turntable is real deal, it really is SKIP PROOF.

    Simpy put... Solid.

Comments about Stanton STR8-150 Digital Turntable:

I used Technics 1200s since 1987, but 2 years ago I sold them to a friend who needed a replacement set for his club. After I while I started to miss them! I tried replacing them with 'digital controllers' but never felt satisfied. I don't like 'used' things so I decided to take a chance on the STR8-150s. They are rock solid. I'm a bedroom DJ so I couldn't justify the expense of new 1200's but these have yet to skip, even doing that crazy helicopter vibration scratch.

Comments about Stanton STR8-150 Digital Turntable:

The drive is super powerful!!! Starts and stops on a dime. The +- 8 pitch is very similar to 1200's the other pitches +-25 and +-50 are very sensitive but good for effects. The reverse button works awesome. Overall a good turntable.
