Comments about Sterling Audio ST33 Small Diaphragm Class-A FET Condenser Microphone:

I got this mic specifically to record an accoustic guitar for a project I was working on. I love the sound. I set this mic up where the neck connects to the body of the guitar pointed back towards the body at a 35 degree angle. I use a tube preamp to record through. The sound is spectacular. It really picked up the richness of the guitar but was still able to get all the small detail of frets sounds. Perfect.

    Excellent mic for the price

Comments about Sterling Audio ST33 Small Diaphragm Class-A FET Condenser Microphone:

This is an excellent mic on acoustic guitars. I usually do my recording at my home studio and then do mixing/mastering at a bigger studio. Many time engineers with years of experience have asked me what mic/pre-amp combo I used to get my acoustic guitar sound. When I tell them the sterling ST-33 straight into my digi002 to ProTools, they are extremely surprised and impressed. I am at the point where I can afford and even own more expensive mics, but I still turn to the Sterling for acoustics more often than not. It also works well as drum overheads in a small room that's not great acoustically (i prefer a wider pick up range in a bigger room) and can work for the right kind of vocalist (usually a pretty loud or aggressive rock singer. Most female vocalists and some males will sound too thin). But it is worth it for the acoustic guitar. If you're on a budget, get two of these. Use them for stereo acoustic recordings and as drum overheads and you'll be happy at their versatility and quality.

ST33 mic is a good deal

    By Rockin Johnny

Comments about Sterling Audio ST33 Small Diaphragm Class-A FET Condenser Microphone:

I have been very happy with this mic. It is very good on off-axis guitar amps, acoustic guitars, and rock vocals. I am going to try it as an overhead mic for my drum kit. If I like what I hear then I plan on buying one more. Very good build quality and really nice sounding and warm mic. Would highly recommend.
