An Active loudspeaker that delivers serious thump
Designed by the same team the produced Mackie's best-selling compact active loudspeakers, the TH-18s delivers chest-thumping lows with amazing precision. A ported bass reflex design produces tight low end. An all-new, lightweight, ultra-efficient Class D power amplifier delivers 500 watts RMS power, with far less waste heat produced versus competing designs. This makes the sub extremely lightweight and portable, without compromising the power and performance that you need.
Protection Without the Price Tag
Everyone knows that when you want a subwoofer, it's so everyone in the room can feel your music, and that pushing most subs to their limits for extended periods of time can stress them out ” not to mention the ears of your audience members. That's why they added active, corrective, and protective circuitry to the TH-18s to keep them performing at their best, gig after gig. The efficient Class D amplifier design runs cooler, even when the music is pumping. A transparent compression circuit protects your sub when you occasionally run into clipping, without fear of thermal damage. If things do get too hot out there, thermal sensors shut down the amp section until it's cool enough to resume safe operation. Finally, an over-excursion filter protects the 18" woofer from bottoming-out when you are really bumping.
A Heavyweight That Weighs Less
Even with 500 watts of rump-shaking power, the TH-18s' world-class design is lean and mean. The onboard Class D amp is ultra-lightweight, yet doesn't sacrifice a single watt of pure power. Simply put, it delivers more power with less weight. So give your roadies a night off. The built in handles and lightweight design make transportation easy.

I have being using the Tapco Thump 18s for about a year now and I have not been able put it to the test yet. I can bearly turn it up to half value with out things coming off the wall in places I play at. I'm glad I did not buy a second one. It would have been an over kill.
After gigging for months sucessfully and without a hiccup our subs suddenly went down....both of them on the same weekend. Nothing was changed, good power, not driving them hard....crazy. After several repair attempts by our local shop Mackie stepped up to the plate and has said they will refund us. We have not recieved our check yet but they claim it is approved. This were discontinued by Thump and rolled into Mackie line...when working they were great and i am glad mackie is making good. We ordered new mackie subs because they stood behind it.
Same as previous reviewer, worked fantastically for first 5-6 DJ gigs without overloading, suddenly started missing beats. I am very disappointed with what originally appeared to be a great buy. Mackie is helping out with the repairs.
As a gigging rock cover band we are constantly dragging gear around and although we have a simple set-up our sound was pretty decent. Our one complaint was we need more low end and this was the ticket! We use a powered mixer for the mains and run the extra outs to the subs which uses a built in x-over and kicks the low end out as much as you want. We haven't even been able to even run them at half power yet because they really put out some sound. Affordable, quick set up, plenty of power...it rocks. Its fairly new so we haven't had the chance to really run it through a durability review but so far we are very pleased. maybe not a top brand name but if they hold up it seems to be a great buy.
