These are clearly designed to appear similar to Sony's 7506 model. To compare them to that, would clearly be unfair. These are entirely plastic, have a straight cable an do not sound as good.

BUT....

They do have a nice screw on style adapter, they do sound good with a slight scooped sound. The low mids are a little boomy and the high mids are a bit scarce. The highs are fairly clean and seem pleasing. They seem to pass volume at an acceptable level. I wouldn't mix on these but they aren't bad.

My overall impression of these phones is that while on sale, they are an exceptional value. It's not going to kill you if a guitarist leaves them on the ground and steps on them when they cost about the same as a drum head or two.

I am using 4 pair in my studio for musicians to track with and for that, they work very well. Good isolation, acceptable sound quality and fairly disposable. Also, it's good to note that while I prefer coiled cables, the straight cable on these seems fairly rugged and quite long. The molded jacks may short out eventually but replacing them with a more quality connector when they do would be an easy mod.

Bought a pair of these with a package deal, and at first I thought they sounded pretty good. Didn't last long though.

First, the bass on one of them started to distort badly in the left channel. Then, both of them started having crackling sound problems. Jiggling the cord sometimes solved it, which tells me there's a bad connection in the cord itself, or a bad solder connection at the jack or earphone.

Shortly after that, one pair quit completely, and the other seems to have a bad connection somewhere in it as well.

All in all, I got barely 4 months of light usage out of them before retiring them to the garbage can. They were being used in my home studio, and handled with the utmost care.

A bit surprising, since I own other Tascam equipment which has been very reliable. But, if you can't find better headphones than these for the asking price, you'd better hang it up.

You "should" get what you pay for, which in this case was far too much. I'd avoid these if I were you.

Good Solid Phones - Distort at High Volumes

Comments about Tascam TH-200X Studio Headphones:

I got these as part of a promo with a pair of studio monitors - so I did not need/want these at first. BUT my regular headphones broke, and there these were.

I give it a solid 4/5 - it does most anything you want. Sound is even and consistent, comfortable to wear, and seems durable. My biggest criticism is that they distort too easy at high volumes. I use these while DJing (and also have ear plugs in), so my head phones are LOUD, and with these guys, they distort at high volumes. Still very usable and comfortable, but which they held together better.

    Again, overall good solid product.

I got these when they were the "Stupid Deal of the Day", and at that heavily-discounted price they were a bargain. They hold up well to low frequencies especially well.

Comments about Tascam TH-200X Studio Headphones:

This is my second pair of these so when friends come over they have headphones to use too. They sound great for recording, mixing, playback, and general everyday listening too. The sound is clear and true. I can hear all the instruments on a tune clearly and distinctly.

My only gripe is that since the cord is long, sometimes I inadvertently step on it, and the wires pull out of the jack easily, necessitating repair. I bought a replacement jack and fixed it, but it's still a pain. I've had to fix it 3 times already. However I am fully aware this is my own issue for stepping on the cable, not the headphone's problem.

Nice headphones. The only thing I would like different would be a coil type cord for better cable management when the long length isn't needed

I use these to play my guitar to backing tracks I have on the computer. (I play my electric guitar through a Line 6 GX box.) The sound is great, and I don't have to disturb anyone in the house while playing. I also use these headphones to listen to music on youtube, etc.. For my purposes, the headphones are perfect. The pads on the headphones make using them comfortable, and I like the fact that they are lightweight.

The headphones were an open-box purchase. The headphones were performing

poorly, so I contacted customer service. I have other headphones in this line and

they work fine, so I'm thinking these headphones were bad initially from the factory

since they were actually returned at least once before. I ran them on numerous

devices just to make sure, however the sound quality was grainy and distorted on

every device tested - NO CHANGE IN QUALITY.
