Comments about TASCAM TM-ST1 Stereo Condenser Microphone:
Bought the TM-ST1 to use w/ a Tascam handheld model DR-07 digital recorder..the DR-07 has built in mics which were clipping cymbals horribly (or the two built ins were out of phase..dunno) Being a powered mic and also a tascam product decided to experiment and roll w/ the value priced TM-ST1 condenser..preliminary results are excellent...we are recording live 3 piece in a shop building at rehearsal volumes ..Loud...(bass, drums, one guitar, vocals on PA)....set the DR-07 in wav mode w/ low gain...wowee, what an improvement. Was able to import raw wavs into Audacity and tweak dB levels and experiment w/ EQ/Compression w/ ease.
So far so good... I do not know if this mic would be suited for high quality studio recording, but if you are looking for better sound from a handheld that has built-in mics w/ a stereo line-in bypass, I would say your pesos could not be spent better. Get rid of the "Kersplash Ker splash" and try it....
Next is to take it to a club and see how live shows come out...nice.

Comments about TASCAM TM-ST1 Stereo Condenser Microphone:
I recently bought this because I wanted something more powerful than my $10 mic that I had originally bought for recording a few years ago. It definitely is a step up. It has a lot more power and picks things up nicely. It comes with a weighted clip, so you can set it on a tabletop or put it on a stand, as well as holding it to record vocals. The only thing I'm still struggling with is getting the proper position so that it doesn't emphasize p's and h's. It seems very sensitive to the extra air that comes through on the fricative consonants, which is taking some getting used to. All in all, though, I am very pleased with this microphone. I highly recommend it.

Comments about TASCAM TM-ST1 Stereo Condenser Microphone:
I bought this stereo microphone to record my performances on the piano and was disappointed to find that without substantial gain boosts it would not work at all. It appears to be designed for voice at close range and works very well when limited to that application. However, when I read the specs and saw that it supported 90 and 120 degree separation, I thought it would be more useful than just for close range work.
Comments about TASCAM TM-ST1 Stereo Condenser Microphone:
I was looking for a remote mic to connect to my Sony PCM-M10 portable digital recorder for piano recording. I put the TASCAM TM-ST1 on a boom stand about 12 inches above the soundboard, 8 inches back from the action and slightly to to the left of middle C (toward the high side) on a grand piano. The mic was aimed toward the front of the piano and the piano lid was wide open. I had the record level set on auto, mic sensitivity set on HI. The record mode was set to LCPM 48.00 kHz/24 bit. The mic power switch was set on 120 degrees. The recordings came out clean with excellent stereo. The right side of the mic was aimed toward the high notes and the left side was toward the low end which makes you feel like you are sitting at the piano while listening. The combination of the Sony PCM-10 and the TASCAM TM-ST1 is amazing. I wish I could go back and re-record some projects with this combination!
120 degree stereo works great.
Good quality for the price.
Comments about TASCAM TM-ST1 Stereo Condenser Microphone:
I got this for like nothing on the "stupid deal of the day." I would pay full price now, though, had I known how great it is. Plugged into my laptop with Audacity software and recorded an entire band practice from center front of room. PERFECT! AMAZING. I did minimal EQ/compression with my extremely limited knowledge of that stuff, and I have excellent demo material, which you can hear at nine mile creek dot info. STEREO, amazing. What a great little mic for simple recording-ignorant/poor technophobes like me!

Comments about TASCAM TM-ST1 Stereo Condenser Microphone:
I bought this about four months ago for use with my Tascam DR-1 mini-recorder. I was initially disappointed because I just could not get a decent-quality recording of my guitars or percussion instruments with it. The sound was quite suppressed and I just could not get any volume into my recordings, no matter how high I set the input. I put the mic away thinking that I would just eBay it, but decided to give it another try when I needed to record some vocals. WOW! This little mic disappoints when recording instruments, but makes up for it with VERY faithful and high-quality voice recordings. Even without the windscreen I have no problems with plosives (b's and p's) popping in the mic. It is an excellent mic for voice work. The next test is for loud, live recordings. I suspect the suppressive qualities would help keep the sound from overwhelming my DR-1.Overall, I'm happy with this purchase now.
