C300 dual stereo gate/compressor
The TC Electronic C300 is an easy-to-use dual-engine dynamics processor that gives you superior compression/limiting and gate/expansion possibilities. Designed primarily for insert applications, it features flexible control of the signal path, 16 gate/expander and 16 compressor/limiter audio-optimized presets with intelligent TC multi-band and full-band technology, innovative new-style compression, state-of-the-art TC quality, and an extremely intuitive and straightforward user interface that gives you access to complex and comprehensive dynamics processing with just a few buttons and simple operations.
The C300 gives you source-based presets that are tailor-made for various types of sources. Depending on the preset you select, you have access to intelligent TC full-band- or multi-band technology.
The C300's multi-band processing is built on a state-of-the-art TC algorithm that bases it's calculations on the incoming source. A multi-band compressor, as opposed to a full band compressor, acts differently on different frequency bands. Each frequency band actually has its own little compressor with unique settings like threshold, ratio, attack, and release. Create, for instance, a steep compression on the lower frequencies, soft compression on the mid frequencies, and bright and light compression on the higher frequencies.
The C300 comes with several presets that are fully optimized for this kind of compression. You'll be surprised how easy it is to use.
New-style compression”an innovative approach
Mix a compressed signal with a dry signal to enhance all the details in the music, just by turning the mix knob. Rather than pressing down the signal peaks, you can preserve all the higher dynamics while simultaneously bringing out the details from the lower end of the signal. Apply parallel compression to a drum kit and all the lower details hit you smack in the face, while all the bells and high dynamics of the snare and cymbals are preserved. Just select the appropriate preset, and you're up and running!
Simple, intuitive and straightforward user interface
All nonessential knobs and tweaking possibilities have been eliminated and replaced with innovative combinations and expansions of parameter indicators and knobs. For instance, the gate and the compressor are both controlled with the same knob, giving you improved and much faster access to important parameters.
Flexible control of the signal path
The C300 gives you all combinations of parallel and serial link modes. Stereo serial mode allows you to process a composite full-mix signal on both engines simultaneously, virtually giving you an extra device. Or insert a stereo full-mix signal into one engine and compress it, for example, then send the stereo signal into the second engine, limit it, and send out a processed full-mix stereo signal. Full stereo processing on two serial connected engines is not normally possible for this type of dynamics processor.
In normal dual/mono mode you can either use one engine as a compressor and the other as a gate”or both engines as compressors or gates, having two individually processed mono signals coming out from each engine.
Dual engine compressor/limiter gate/expander
16 compressor/limiter presets and 16 gate/expander presets optimized for selectable audio sources
Intelligent TC multi-band and full-band technology
Detail enhancement via new-style compression
Flexible routing gives you all standard combinations of link modes + a stereo serial mode that virtually gives you an extra device
No nonsense user interface

The T.C. electronic C 300 dual engine compressor is a great buy. I play a Warwick Corvette standard active 5 string bass. My rig is a Gallien-Kruger 1001 RBII head through a goldline 8-10 cabinet. I have tried several footpedal type compressors and they don't come close to this unit. They kill the lows and are noisy. This unit is so quiet , and the bass preset is very good. After just a few tweaks of the volume makeup,(set at around +4 db), and the mix knob, (set around 75% processed.), I had a great live sound. The C 300 does not color the sound or change it. The lows are retained, with a tighter cleaner sound. The highs shine through, but are very even.I run it with both selector switches set for comp/lim and in serial mode. I run it through the effects loop of my amp. I am recording now with it connected directly to the mixer and get great results. Wish I had this on our CD, "Bound for Hell". (Tainted Society).
I bought one of these for my friend's mini project studio. It works great! Super easy to dial-in. Reasonably quiet. Incredibly musical and transparent for this price range. Operates in stereo for drum sub-groups or other stereo signals. Also operates in side-chain mode for mono applications. Highly recommended for those without much compressor experience because its presets are so simple to use. If you record to digital media, you absolutely need a decent compressor to track at adequate volume. If you are on a low budget, this is a great choice.
It is extreamlly versitile as a beginning sound engineer can get a good sound out of it, but has all the features a pro needs. It has several presets, and as always if you dont know how to use it properlly just put everything at 12 and youll get the classic TC sound. I wanna get another soon, they work great on Drums Bass and vocals, I havent really tried it with much more.
