OVERVIEW

Compact, enriched vocal processing effect that will have you loving the way you sound.

No matter if you're a seasoned professional singer, or if you're just at the start of your career, the VoiceLive Play from TC Helicon will deliver impacting results that will not only enhance your performance, it will boost your confidence level too. With a host of professional features like harmony and pitch correction, sing along, and a very useful practice mode, the VoiceLive Play will have you sounding your best in no time. The unit is compact in size compared to the other VoiceLive units, but it still packs the same power and professional results.

Sound like the pros
You can have instant and incredibly, intuitive access to vocal effects that come straight from our VoiceLive range. Featuring automatic backing harmonies, vocal double tracking, pristine EQ and compression, lush reverbs, hard-tuned robo-voice, the list goes on - all of the goose-bumps-on-your-arms effects that make today's billboard hit vocals "pop".

Perfect Harmonies & Correction
VoiceLive Play listens to your music. Using Auto Key technology it senses and adapts to your MP3 recordings using the aux input or the built in RoomSense microphones so that harmonies and pitch correction fit perfectly with your music.

Pick a Genre, any Genre
The Genre function is there to help you browse the massive palette of 200+ vocal presets in VoiceLive Play. Press the Genre button and search by music genre or effect type. If you've never used effects before, you'll quickly learn how to find the sound you're looking for using this method.

Make It a Hit
HIT is a performance-inspired feature for building intensity into any vocal performance. Every preset has a base level effect that you can build upon by pressing the HIT button that adds effects on top. For example, you could start with a simple reverb and tight doubling then select the "HIT" feature in the chorus to add harmonies and a megaphone - all from one preset.

Practice makes Perfect
Use PRACTICE to bring up an intelligent pitch display and your singing stats. Then you will be able to monitor your performance in real-time to see what notes you're hitting too sharp, and which ones you're coming up a bit flat on. As you improve, you'll notice your accuracy score getting better.

Sing Along
Plug in and practice using the Vocal Cancel function and your MP3 player. You can then record and play back your singing using the USB connection to your computer.

Loop Around
The VLOOP performance looper allows you to create a loop instantly, so you can have an astounding layered effect with the ability to turn effects on and off, creating a completely unique performance.

A Good Set of Ears
Embedded stereo RoomSense mics can control your harmonies from instruments nearby, replace the cabled mic for headphone practice or add a bit of room ambience to your headphone mix.

Adaptive Tone
TC-Helicon's adaptive tone technology intelligently controls Shape EQ and Dynamics (Compression & De-ess) to provide the perfect tonal balance and add smooth dynamic control to fit in any mix. Best of all it's easy - just set and forget. An adaptive gate can also be added to help suppress feedback and reduce bleed.

I am so amazed by this "Blue Wonder"! I am a 43yr old musician who started singing in earnest when I was 8 or 9yrs old and started wanting a guitar at about the same time. I wanted to believe that I was a good singer, but, I'm not. I have a few songs that I do pretty good, but, for the most I fall flat. Got my first guitar when I was 15yrs old and never looked back for the first 3 years of learning. I've come a long way after a lot of stop/start relations with music and thought I was going to be stuck doing mostly back up singing and learning someone else's style of singing. No more! I got my VoiceLive Play and started messing around with it today. I'm running it through my Phonic P.A. system that I also purchased through Musician's Friend and even the stock mic I got with my system sounds like a much higher-end version after being run through my VLP. Amazing doesn't even begin to describe the awesome potential behind this "blue marvel". First, I'll start by telling you this is a well built piece of technology. Judging by the weight I'd say aircraft aluminum. The foot switches are extremely quiet, smooth, heavy duty and well spaced. There are a total of 10 soft buttons and a rubberized infinate control knob. Everything is well placed and nothing seems like an after thought. I've bought and used a lot of pedals over these past 27yrs and recognize quality from qurap and this pedal quite simply could command twice the price due to excellent materials and workmanship alone. Then there's the sound. I'm shocked by the things that the VoiceLive Play is capable of and executes so well! I didn't bother with the instructions and ran through the presets. I can't believe that's me singing and the vocals now sound professional! I am so happy that I could play & sing and this room becomes filled with music that sounds good, even recorded. There are some voices for you to play around with and a few of them are over the top, but, amazingly they all sound pure and perfectly human and no lag times. Unless, you want to change ALL of your parameters. I can't wait for tomorrow when I'll experiment with creating new voicings and I need to see what voicings I can download! My ONLY complaint is that I have to send off for the free ME-75 microphone. It'll take 4-8 weeks to get it, but, it will be so worth having. I'll probably do a review on it. Lastly, if you have a wish to sound better when you sing then get the VoiceLive Play. This is the perfect Christmas present for anyone wanting the ultimate toolbox for thier vocals. T.C. Helicon VoiceLive Play ROCKS!!! PEACE

The buttons responded well at first but a few weeks later they did not. I liked the price and what it could do so I decided to exchange it for the same unit. Hopefully the one I get back will be trouble free. I do wish the instructions were more of a booklet or manual versus a pamphlet.

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceLive Play:

WOW! I'm getting involved in a duo act and was wanting to spice up the vocals but, I had no idea this would do so much. The first thing I always look for in a effect device is,is it easy to operate and setup because I am a guitar player and singer and I have to concentrate on my performance and I do not want to diddle with knobs and settings. This definately fills the bill in that dept. The first time I kicked in the harmony I could not believe how GREAT! it sounded, there are several presets to choose from. The effects and harmony on the vocals is the main reason that I purchased this. This unit is totally programmable and you can create your own presets if you so desire, I doubt that I'll be doing this because there are way more than enough sounds and super sounding presets to give anyone what they're lookig for. I could not be more satisfied with this unit and, I would highly reccommend this to anyone looking for an easy to operate harmonizer with GREAT! sounds at a very modest price. GREAT job and GREAT product form TC Helicon.

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceLive Play:

This TC Helicon device blows my mind. I play in a band, where I'm usually the only one singing. So to be able to stomp a button, and have harmonies in the mix, makes all the difference.
I like to turn the harmonies down in mix, it's a nice subtle sound. But what I use isn't really a harmony, it's an octave down effect. So when I belt out a strong higher note, the lower octave really bring out the fullness in the sound.
The reverb is also really cool.
And for those wondering about the pitch correction, there's a nob you can turn, from 0% to 100% pitch correction, I like to have mine at about 25%. It allows me to hit the note perfect, but not sound like pitch correction, which is exactly what I wanted. Thrilled with this pedal, everyone always asked me about it, and wants their own.

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceLive Play:

This device is AWESOME i love the variety, the easy to choose genre functions. This a very well priced device that will help a great deal. PLUS TC Helicon does updates weekley that give advice and tips and tricks, plus new patches often.Right away if you register your device on voice support you ca download an additional 500 effect presets.

MY ONLY DISLIKE is that the harmonies sound VERY artificial. Your gonna want to turn them very low or not use them at all. I seen a review that had a good point, if your not a very good singer the harmonies will e more effective to you, but if you already have good voice and a good pitch the harmonies kill you.

OVERALL its still a really good deal, with a ton of possibilities, I personally havent played with the other models perhapse the voicelive 2 has a better harmoney, look into in if you are willing to pay the cash.

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceLive Play:

Was a little sceptical about this VoicePlay, having sent back a Boss VE20 because of a not so good harmonizer. I already use a Digitech VL4 in the studio, and a TC Helicon VoiceTone M playing live. Wanted something that would work without using MIDI or an acoustic/electric guitar as a guide (hooked up). The "room sense" actually works when tweeked - unbelievable! Even when a songs chord pattern is difficult, it reads! You have to make sure the output lead vocal is set to "auto" - it gives a slight (indiscernible) delay to your voice so that the VoicePlay can harmonize tighter, and the pedal is within 6 feet or so from your amp.

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceLive Play:

I play Bass and I'm one of 3 lead vocalists in a local band. We operate the PA from the stage, so adjusting the effect settings on my vocal for different songs is not an option. I was searching for a clean, stereo effect w/footswitch that I could operate. The VoiceLive Play was my choice. (Guitarists should consider the VoiceLive Play GTX. It's the best of both worlds!)
To date I've used it on 5-6 gigs. Because there are so many studio presets, I picked 8-10 and added them to "favorites".
There are hundred's of pre-sets like, Fleetwood Mac, Kansas, Eagles, Beach Boys, Badfinger and a lot of current artists that I'm not familiar with.
If your vocals are a little "pitchy" there is even a "correct pitch". Careful how much % you use or you will sound like Cher's Do You Believe in Love!
I didn't buy it for the harmonies, but it's a great feature to have for example if you're doing Eagle Songs. You can add the "oohs or aaahs" and it sounds real! You can even adjust male/female in the harmonies!
One of my favorite pre-sets is the Barry White!
I had a problem with the Display Light. I notified T.C. Helicon and they repaired at no cost to me.
The only difficulty that I'm currently experincing is setting the level of the harmonies. They're either too loud or too soft. I have not yet located the "perfect" setting for the Harmony levels.
It's very easy to use. Watch youtube demos for examples of what the VoiceLive Play is capable of!
This is a great unit for the price!

Bought the unit right after Labor Day. I put it on stage just a few days later and it performed perfectly. I am a Guitar/Bass player and am called on to sing a few songs here and there. My voice is ok at best, but with this thing, I can sing in tune like everyone else on stage. I get comment's like, "Amazing" "I love the reverb and delay quality" and of course "the harmony is out of this world". I bought the unit for pitch correction and compression and it shines in these areas, but I got SO much than that. Too many features that I like to list them all. Put it this way, if you can dream it, you can do it. Plug one of these up and you will be singing like never before. I guarantee it!

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceLive Play:

I bought this primarily as a means to put vocal control back in my hands and not the sound guy. I'm in a cover band and the clubs we play may or may not have house sound. When it does, I was used to turning over all of my vocal effects to the whim of the sound guy they hired for the night. Not any more. This little box fits nicely on my guitar pedal board and puts me in control of everything I need to dress up the vocals. Frankly I bought it because we were going to add Purple Rain to our setlist. The delay is important on that tune, so I looked into what simple effects I can trigger from the stage to make it work. After reading and watching many reviews, I decided this box was the way to go. This one seemed to be an excellent pricepoint for the effects included, without too many menus to navigate to do simple tasks. This was the perfect balance. I bought it expecting the harmonies to be cheesy and useless (just like auto tune). I was wrong. The harmonies are actually pretty darn good. Now I use it all the time, if only as a crutch for my mic-shy bandmates. I do not rely on the pedal to set the key. I hardcode the key into a preset for each tune. I gigged with it last weekend and was VERY impressed with how it turned out. My only problem was that my new MP-75 mic button triggered on the harmonies when I didn't want them. I'll fix that next time. Otherwise, this is a phenomenal pedal for the price.

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceLive Play:

Over the past few years I have read every TC Helicon manual for the voice live series. The learning curve was very steep and I was not going to be able to spend that much time. So I waited for years. Finally, THIS IS IT. Right out of the box I am running on some of the presets and love them. The reviews are largely correct; If you can sing, this will make you sound great. If you cannot sing, this will not help you. Really easy to get your arms around this. It doesn't have all the functionality of the first few versions but well worth giving them up for the ease of use. I use it for live solo acoustic work but for the band stuff I let the sound guy manage the vox.

Featuring an astounding array of effects for the voice, the user is limited only by his imagination. We found the factory patches to be perfectly fine for starting out and very easy to tweak when customizing was needed. I use a number of effects to expand the sound of my guitar so why wouldn't we want to use some on the vocal? This product changed our band from a three piece to a five piece.

This is one of most astonishing vocal effects units I have ever used. Harmonies are the most "human" sounding of any vocal processor I have found. There are so many pre-sets already in the unit as well as many more available online, that it just boggles the mind. Biggest bang for your buck!!

It comes with a USB cable so you can plug it into your computer and download more pre-sets and firmware upgrades from the TC Helicon website. Just an amazing unit and you can't beat Musician's Friend's price!

The buttons responded well at first but a few weeks later they did not. I liked the price and what it could do so I decided to exchange it for the same unit. Hopefully the one I get back will be trouble free. I do wish the instructions were more of a booklet or manual versus a pamphlet.

I play cover tunes as a solo act using backing tracks. Bought a small mixer with the usual dull effects. So I bought this mostly for reverb and Delay which are excellent. But am finding the cheezy harmonies actually work surprisingly well. You would never use them in a studio, but for a bunch of drunk punters, this is the ticket.
It holds enough pre sets to cover your entire set list, I actually found 7 songs I do and with minor tweaking your good to go. The best feature is the HIT button which will add a chosen efx only when pressed. That way you can have a reverb/delay for the song and only hit the harmony for the chorus or special effects like a feedback loop.

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceLive Play:

This is a great vocal pedal, and I've tried several. The effects are solid, but when the harmonies are set right they're incredible. Two weaknesses that kept me from giving it a 5 star review.
                            1) The Harmony pedal (the only one you actually use mid-song) is also the bypass pedal. If you tap it the harmonies turn on. If you hold it down for 1second (!?!) it bypasses all the effects and harmonies. While I understand wanting to bypass the effects inbetween songs, 1 second is WAY too short of a time to switch. I often hit it slightly too long and find my vocals dry, without harmonies, and way quieter than I should be. That's a design flaw.
                            2) You can only set the key of a patch to major keys. It has trouble with minor keys. And while you can usually use a corresponding major key to fit most minor key songs, there are sometimes it won't work, nor does the internal mic accurately pick up the key of whatever your'e playing.

I have found ways to work around these limitations and hope to upgrade to a newer, nicer version in the near future.

I was excited to receive this in the mail. Instructions are minimal, but enough to get started. Watched some online videos for more info. Stayed up until after midnight playing with it!

Lots of different voice flavors to pick from. Some are so similar that I'm not sure what the difference is. I selected 15 as my "favorites" and have been using them.

The voice cancelation does not work like described. It muffles the voice from my MP3 songs, but never cancels. It also muffles a lot of the other instruments. This was dissapointing :-(

Got one used. Good shape, and fully functional. Easy to hook up - straightforward and instant-easy access to presets. The presets, themselves, are a mixed lot of somewhat useful and godawful. Reprogramming this thing is a real challenge, and takes a lot of time with the poorly written manual to figure out. Still, I have found it useful, especially the non-harmony effects. For the price, I think it is a good first step into vocal processing for semi-pros looking to add a bit of polish to their vocal sound.

Totally dig the built in condensers to "listen" and help set correct harmonies. This is the best bang for the buck for vocalists on a budget. So far, my wife has had zero issues navigating, tweaking, etc... she loves it!
