I hope this will help someone considering purchasing a VL Touch.I've had enough time to 'touch' every ability of my purchase. Overall I am pleased and this has become an interactive component of our live performance. I play in a band, not using this fro DJ or 1 man acoustic situation but I can see the uses in this area. The Good*Quality sounds*Lots of effects buried under those 6 touch boxes.*Easy access to rotary volume (good while your learning while playing - with so many effects combinations its quick access if you find your effects sound different than when you created them)*Build quality seems solid.*Looper - If your into this type of thing, there are oodles of hints and entries in the manual and TC online on how to create killer loops. IMO they spent too much energy on this feature. (see below)*Guitar effects were pretty good for acoustic guitar. This thing makes me want to design a couple 1 man show party performances. Not really my thing but with the ability to sound like an entire band with just a guitar and mic it's very tempting. Don't tell my band...The Bad*The VL Touch is LESS editable than the Voicelive 2 floor unit.*You can't create custom key / scale harmony.*Manual is incomplete. TC has used names for the presets that will at least give you a clue but you have to look at all settings one by one, through over 200 presets to figure them out. Worse is that this unit has effect settings called "styles" that you have to figure out on your own. Not enough explanation around some of the other settings they use. For example, I copied this from the manual... "Choir engages the Choir effect." While I know what a choir is.. some definition (glossary) would have been appreciated. There are lots of examples like this where the manual lists a key parameter with a single word definition.. leaving you to wonder what actual effect is going on.*Vocoder - Take this comment with a grain of salt. Hopefully others will speak about this. I thought the vocoder was terrible BUT 1-I don't know much about these and 2-I was using a 200 Yamaha keyboard / midi. I would be curious what others think about vocoder quality. For me it was monophonic and grainy sounding... not the quality I hear from professional artists.*PC interface is extremely limited. NO ability to edit parameters with your PC. You can only move patches around update firmware and make an archive of your settings. (very handy as making accidental saves on this is very easy ) I hope they edit this later with an 'edit lockout' mode to avoid those accidental saves. I think this is a big deal as nearly every section of the top of this device is touch sensitive. A simple adjustment or brush of the hand can result in things being saved or new effects being turned on / off. In summaryIf you have your hands free to interact with this device I would recommend it. If you want every possible edit option / effect you owe it to at least look at the Voicelive2 or another product.Of disappointment was the fact that TC didn't advertise the "less editable than VL2" until after all the launch hype and that the full manual wasn't available until after launch. Well, that's my own fault for being too excited to read the manual before placing my order. ; P I probably would have ordered it anyway. The online community is slowly growing although most of the FAQs available are still very basic and not much help for advanced questions. Hopefully this gets better soon.Sure I'm pointing the finger at some of this device's shortcomings but I'm hoping this allows anybody reading from avoiding any negative surprises. Overall this deserved a rating of 4 - Great! It's really fun to interact with this little device.

I really like the pristine sound. It took some getting used to as the clarity is a bit jarring after having used the Digitech unit for the past few years.

The digitech is easier to use, but the sound quality isn't as good....

The Digitech Unit is self reliant, in that it is a floor unit and analogous to foot pedals that are comfortable for any guitarist that sings. The TC Unit requires manual manipulation, unless a separate footswitch is purchased. Until the footswitch arrives, I will continue to use the Digitech, which has been a steady workhorse..if the foot switch operates as I am hoping it will, I will likely give this a much better rating.

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceLive Touch:

I was strongly considering this at full price. Couldn't resist at sale price.

Unit is being used for home studio recordings. I am blown away by what this can do. I started playing around with it and found it easy to use, before looking through the manual. It's a guy thing I guess. Then I took the time to scroll through all the presets and found quite a few effects I was looking for. I like how you can lower the dB of the lead vocal, almost removing it, yet still have a harmony added to what you sang. We sound like the Steely Dan female backing vocals from the great 70's albums! I love the choir presets.

The reverb and delay are great, throw in a harmony, and when needed, we use the double effect.

We loaded our favorites into the 5 slots. Once the favorites are loaded, you're ready to go. When we're recording, someone (me) is at the unit touching on what effect we want to use at that point in the song, then touching it off. Some songs use 2 or 3 different settings. For instance, we commonly use the high and low harmony. At certain times in a song for "effect" we may add the "higher" to the high and low. You can select up to 4. The possibilities keep me up at night.

We have not looked into looping and probably have no need to. It's doing way beyond what we expected. I'm amazed this technology even exists.

This little device opened up a whole new avenue for my solo act. With the looper and harmony capability, I can get a much fuller sound and can play a wider variety of material.
It's very solid, mounts on a mic stand and quick and easy to configure on the fly.

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceLive Touch:

I bought this for my band to play around with. Our singer is great at doing stuff like Soc D but has some limitations to his range. We had just reviewed tape of our last gig and I brought this along to mess around with and this was impressive!

Our singer's range exploded with this. He was able to do multiple genres. The harmonies on this were awesome. My singing voice sucks but it corrects my pitch so I can actually sound remotely decent. The looping is cool on this as are the other effects.

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceLive Touch:

This is one of those iceberg things, I bought it for the harmonies but there's so much more beneath the surface. My first attempts had me trying CSN songs alone, then I attempted Freddy Mercury, but that's not easy even with your voice and 3 harmonies doubled! The looper was a pleasant surprise and maybe with all the processing I'll get the Robert Plant voice that one doesn't expect of a baritone. Most of my singing is in solo acoustic gigs (no amp, mic or PA) so haven't played out with it yet, only after lots of homework.

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceLive Touch:

Screen prompts start out clear and easy to follow. But, as you go through the other features they may negate your settings or freeze up and not allow you to return to your important functions. The screen races by at lightning speed and is very hard to read. Further, a voice processor like this should include the floor switching so you can use this while playing an instrument. As is, only a vocalist can use this on stage. The means of attaching to a mic stand is good BUT it hides the in/out and makes the rear hookups hard to see and use.

I returned this unit for a refund, as I was very disappointed.
