TC Helicon

A wealth of features makes Create XT a great sounding, easy-to-use vocal effect pedal.

The VoiceTone Create XT from TC Helicon is a hit-producer-in-a-pedal. Now you can get those "ear candy" vocal effects that producers call on every day to create hit tracks. VoiceTone Create XT vocal effect processor improves on the original Create by incorporating HardTune (used by artists such as T-Pain and Kanye West) and the rich, front-of-house quality reverb from its famous big brother, VoiceLive 2. The TC Helicon Create XT vocal processor is now easier to use with individual on/off buttons for the effects blocks, more onboard editing, an input for an optional Switch3 footswitch if you prefer a vocal effects pedal, and much more!

Rich reverb
Vastly superior to the reverb effect found in stomp boxes and in all-in-one mixers that do little more than add mud to your vocals, the TC Helicon Create XT's high-end reverb algorithm comes from TC Electronic, a company with a long and successful history in reverb processing.

Choosing your sound
When it's time to pick your vocal effects, the TC Helicon Create XT effect processor offers you several routes to define your sound. First of all, the 10 factory presets give you a wide range of useful effects with each preset having A and B settings that can be easily toggled when needed. To customize your sound, the vocal effect processor's 100 styles offer preprogrammed effect chains with a wide range of subtle to insane effects that can be made into easily accessible presets. Making things easier is the way in which the 100 styles are organized: by effects category and by musical genre. If you are comfortable with effects terminology, the TC Helicon vocal processor lets you browse by category. If you prefer, however, you can browse the genres such as Pop/R&B, Rock/Metal, Oldies, Jazz/Ballad, and Electronic.

Even more sonic possibilities are offered when you consider that each style has effects enabled and others disabled. The fun begins when you experiment with turning effect blocks on and off with the front panel buttons. As a bonus, you can add the optional Switch3 footswitch to extend your effects switching capabilities in performance.

Added tweak-ability control features six parameters to allow finer control of your sound. The TC Helicon VoiceTone Create XT pedal's four Effect On/Off buttons allow you to engage effects individually or as a group. A low-noise XLR mic input with phantom power is the ideal choice for condenser mics. You can also use the pedal input to connect an optional Switch 3 footswitch for individual effect block on/off switching. The outputs are quite flexible. Choose Mono+dry or stereo XLR balanced outputs. An included USB lets you connect to VoiceSupport, an application that delivers updates, new sounds, tips, and tricks exclusively for the VoiceTone vocal effects system.

Great little machine

I've had the TC Helicon VoiceTone Create XT for several years and have always been genuinely thrilled with it. I use it with the Bose PAS L1 and a Sennheiser e865 microphone. It has a very user friendly interface, and switching between effects mid-show (and even mid-song) couldn't be easier. It is durable; the only problem I've had in years of on-the-road use is that the A/C adapter got a short in it. Calling the company remedied that with a new one mailed directly to me. Really the only design error I can speak to is that the knobs sometimes get messed with during transport. So long as you know what your presents are, that's not an issue. The effects it delivers are great. The reverbs are never artificial sounding. I love the way the mix can be easily controlled right from the unit. There's nothing like being able to control your own sound. After all, you know how your songs should be presented to your audience. The VoiceTone Create gives you that control right at your fingertips (or rather, toes). Great value, great machine.

I have used this live and in the studio and it works great for switching between vocal effects. It took me a little while to get comfortable with operating the system.  The website for uploads was easy to use. Being able to customize the effects is the best feature.  The only problem I ever had was the on/off switch for the vocal effects getting stuck during a live performance.  Got home a tapped it with a hammer and it's fine now.  Don't know how it got stuck, or if it will again.  Other than that one incident I love this vocal effects stompbox.  Works great with the single D1.

This is a nice piece from TC to have for a gigging musician. You no longer need the sound guy to add the delay, chorus, verd ? ext you can just do it yourself. The box is solid; the knobs are strong and give a nice click when you switch the channel. This is easy to program but hard to see on stage. I would strongly recommend this product to anyone that wants that studio wet sound on stage. Please note that this product will not make you sound better if you can?t sing. Please don?t sing if you can?t, learn to play the radio!

I am a drummer and use the voice correct and the voice create and send the signal to my Mackie CFX  board. I also use the effects on the mixing board to expand on what the create unit can do. All I can say is I am very pleased with the results. Just take the time to set it. I did not use the presets and built my own effects and it turned out excellent.I have used it for 3 years and have not had a problem.

I have a home studio and I play in a live band.  This unit sounds great in the studio.  But, when using it live, the feedback in the monitors is unreal.  And yes, I know how to run live sound and 'ring out the monitors'.  Turning off the 'tone' feature helps, and running it with no gain, but you end up with a very flat sound.  Again, for the home studio, at this price range, you can't beat it.  But if your thinking about using it live, your gonna be disappointed.
