I have a Voicelive that I bought 7 or 8 years ago. I also own many, many other things with lots of knobs and lights and....... where was I going with this.... oh ya... I think I may have ADHD. My Voicelive is great, but I could not seem to focus long enough to figure out how to maintain the pristine subtle qualities of my amazing voice as it worked its way through all the fancy electronics of my Voicelive. The harmonies and affects are very cool, but my lead vocals always seemed to get a little muddled..... somewhere, in there...... But not anymore! There is a mic thru on my voicelive which I send directly into my mic mechanic, now my vocals punch through clear as a bell (imagine Ronny James Dio crossed with Celine Dion and.... a blast of pure ice crystals..... experienced within mega rock High Definition power pixel matrix that has probably not even been invented yet, ya..... like that) I hooked an old Boss volume pedal to the voice live's expression pedal jack, and now when the chorus hits and I want to fatten up my sound or bring in harmonies, I slide them in with the pedal. My front of house mix has three vocal sends: I run my voicelive stereo in the mix (pan about 10:00 L - 2:00 R) and run my mic mechanic send straight up the middle. I cannot express.... how freakin' HUGE and clear my vocals are. Yes I would recommend this thang to anyone who wants a simple ADHD proof magic box that will make you sound really, really awesome..... well, you probably have to KINDA know how to sing and stuff, but.... I dunno... maybe this magic little box will help all those really bad karaoke singers and people like my probably tone-deaf girlfriend who absolutely sucks. Guess I'll put my mic in front of her face and see what she can do with it.

I gig once a week year round and travel to many venues. Here's the problem with this pedal as I see it. When I whistle softly into the mic the unit creates a loud zippering digital robot sound. And that's with all processing off. Normal singing is fine but I can't use something that will distort like this. Yes, I adjusted the input correctly. I returned it and tried a second one with the same result. This is clearly a design defect. It's hard to believe TCHelicon didn't see this issue.
I can't recommend this to a professional singer. I will continue shopping for s simple and reliable floor pedal for my vocals.
Just a side note: for years I plugged a mic into a Boss DD3, using an inline transformer. The result was satisfactory and it NEVER distorted even with LOUD input.

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceTone Mic Mechanic Reverb, Delay, & Pitch Correction Pedal:

If you've heard enough performances in small venues where pro equipment isn't being used, you know that the common problems with the vocal amplification are boominess, sibilance, lack of compression, and flatness. This one pedal solves all those issues! This pedal provides compression, de-S'ing, adaptive equalization, pre-amp boosting, noise-gating, and reverb and delay effects. (yes, it does have pitch correction, but honestly I would be just as happy if it didn't) The real-time adaptive equalization and compression means that you'll get optimal sound even if you don't stand perfectly still in front of the mic. Also very important, the pedal is QUIET. I looked at the Digitec vocal processor and discovered that it introduces a lot of noise to the signal. That's somewhat acceptible on a guitar channel, NOT on a vocal channel. Another very cool feature is the ability to tap out the tempo to be used for the delay effect. The pitch correction does allow you to do a rather cool trick: auto-double tracking, ie. chorusing. If you set the auto-tune high and set the effect level around 50%, your vocal imperfections will make it sound like a double-tracked vocal.
I'd say that this pedal is indispensible for anyone who plays small to medium venues and wants a professional sound. You no longer have to rely on their equipment being up to snuff and you can control the reverb and or echo from the stage. If you were to buy a compressor, an equalizer, and a reverb/delay pedal separately, you'd already be spending twice what this pedal costs.

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceTone Mic Mechanic Reverb, Delay, & Pitch Correction Pedal:

I am a full time professional musician. I have used the Mic Mechanic for about two years and have been very pleased with its performance. The effects, tone and a little bit of pitch correction give just the right polish to my live vocals. But if you suck at singing, this isn't going to make you an American Idol. It's interesting to me that the complaints from reviewers on here are from ONE guy who had feedback problems (probably didn't have the gain set correctly), a couple of jokers who complained that they can't whistle into it, and another dude who claims that it somehow made his guitar strings sound like rubber bands. How he managed that is beyond me. Look, if you want to beef up your vocals, get this thing and give it a try. A ton of people are really happy with it. If you're not, return it and get something else.

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceTone Mic Mechanic Reverb, Delay, & Pitch Correction Pedal:

We've just recently switched to IEM's, which made us very aware of how well our vocal mics picked up everything on stage, and how muddy this made everything else in our In Ears. I knew that what I needed was a monster rack of vocal effects that was well out of our budget, but then I saw this guy, and figured, "hey that's not a bad price, why not." And I have to say that it does everything it advertises, and it does it well. Don't let the videos fool you. It may not seem like it's doing anything special, but when you add in guitars, bass, drums, and synths it becomes very clear how much it does. And the best part is that it does it all automatically, so you don't have to be an engineer to make this guy work. Press one button, get your levels right, so that your not killing your mixer, or your ears, and you get clearer, more defined vocals!

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceTone Mic Mechanic Reverb, Delay, & Pitch Correction Pedal:

I ordered this for a friend but got to play with it a little. The effects are good, most anyone will find something they like.

I really liked the "Tone" button, that made a difference. It seemed kind of subtle to me but others said they could hear it clearly and it added a lot.

I tune to A-432 and the pitch correction is hard wired to A-440.

I ended up ordering the TC Helicon VoiceLive Play for myself. For the additional money it's feature rich and offers much more bang for the buck. The pitch correction on this one can be adjusted to accommodate my A-432 tuning.

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceTone Mic Mechanic Reverb, Delay, & Pitch Correction Pedal:

This gear is quality stuff. I met one of their reps using it in live performance and spent alot of time going over the functions. It is simple and does exactly what is supposed to do. If you are only looking for reverb abd delay functions with some dialed in voice correction this is it!
But the instructions are a disgrace to the product. Printed so small that I literally had to use a magnifying glass to read it. A shame because that kind if marketing raises suspicions about the quality of the product. Too good a product to skimp on the final step between the customer. Works Great!

I like this little piece of gear. It's great to rehearse at home with and will sound fine in a bar or club gig. It has a limited selection of reverbs but then any reverb only really has a few useful patches. I have a lot better preamps but this one sounds find powering an SM 58 in a small venue. Very solid, seems quite sturdy. The chromatic pitch correction used at 20% or under is very smooth and undetectable - helps your head wrap around the key very quickly and improves your accuracy. And it's red.

If you use a high gain setting on your mic, you will need to isolate it from external sounds other than your voice. It will pick them up. Other than that it is very simple to use with great results. They built this unit just for me.

Very good Unit..Only one problem, most Phantom Power provides 48+ Volts but this unit does not.It only provides 24+ Volts.Thats why I had a hum when I used my Condencer Mic because it requires 48 volts. The Manufacture should say this in their Spec's but they didn't.Checked it with a volt meter. It's very misleading. So they should provide the information with who ever is selling the unit so the consumer will know.If I had known it I would not have bought it, but luckily I hooked it up to another Phantom Power unit that had 48+ so I could use it...

Easy to use. The auto-tone adjustment made voice clear through all the mix. I was disappointed that the unit isn't phantom powered or battery powered.

I bought this to use with my new dp004 recorder, the tascam 004 has built in condensing mic's, but it needed something other than singing straight into it. Brittany suggested the TC Helicon voice mechanic, she knows her stuff, I was totally amazed at the sound and quality of this pedal. My tascam 004 is now complete. Thank you Brittany.

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceTone Mic Mechanic Reverb, Delay, & Pitch Correction Pedal:

I bought this Voice Mechanic to go with my BOSE L1 Compact System. All I really needed was a little bit of reverb for the voice channel which the L1 does not have built in. My singing pitch is really accurate so I did not need that function and the L1 does some EQ optimization on it's own, so I didn't need that.
This Mic Mechanic works well in all respects except one: forget whistling. For some reason the purity of the sound a whistle makes messes up the DSP inside and the sound completely breaks up. I use a separate mic for songs where I have to whistle (which I don't do that much.).
This is a hndy little unit for a solo performer which sets up in less than a minute and gives you what you need.

Indeed, every claim is true. This is like a soundmand in a box. My bass player couldn't understand why my vocals were so clear and concise with pristine presence. The effects are easy breezy to dial in. I rarely use the pitch correction but I see where it can be useful. Tap tempo feature is easy to incorporate and usb connectivity on back. Very impressed with this simple yet innovative item.

Like I said above. I won't sing without it! I bought it because I liked having reverbs and delays to fatten up my otherwise mediocre singing voice. Since the bands I play in provide our own sound, I don't have a soundman to activate and deactivate the effects from my rack gear. I didn't want delay when talking to the audience so I just wanted a stompbox. I bought a pair of these for myself and the other vocalist I work with, just to be a user controlled reverb/delay stompbox... We got a LOT more! The reverbs and delays were perfect for us right out of the box! At first I totally ignored the pitch correction, but for the fun of it we tried it for a regular gig. Our regular fans and followers came up to us and said that our vocals were the best they had heard from us that night! The pitch correction is pretty smooth and not that annoying hard-tune effect. The auto-gate/EQ/Compressor sounds decent but I shut it off and use my rack gear for that, but I use it in rehearsal with my small studio PA head. The preamp is a touch hot and I run the volume to minimum most of the time (this is a biggie when you are using it with a front of house soundman! He won't like a too-hot signal.) Now, even if I have a soundman for larger gigs, I still use this box. I can control my effects this way. Build quality seems decent, it's holding up as well as any of my higher quality bass or guitar stompboxes.
If I could improve it, I wish TC Helicon would have used a 9V power supply for it instead of 12v so I could power it with my pedal board or a 1-spot... Still that's a very minor issue.

I wanted a simple processor to enhance my voice rather than turn it into something it isn't. A little reverb and delay goes a long way for me. The auto eq and slight pitch correction is an added bonus. This is a basic processor that is very easy to set up and use, without a lot of extra stuff I'd never use.
