Overview

For Toontrack's Superior Vintage Add-On, Grammy-Award winning engineer Peter Henderson (Supertramp, Paul McCartney, Tina Turner) used a 1964 design EMI TG Desk console. This is an ex-Abbey Road piece with a 28-channel/16 configuration that was used for The Beatles' "Abbey Road" and Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon." He also used Germanium Transistor mic pre's in conjunction with vintage Neumann, AKG, and Sennheiser mics. One of the Neumanns--the U87--featured a Helios F760 compressor, the kind used during the legendary recordings of Led Zep, The Who, The Stones, and even at Apple Corps (The Beatles own studio).

This add-on expansion pack is the last one created with this gear as it was a last hurrah for the TG Desk. But before it was put out to pasture, Henderson and drummer Chris Whitten (Tom Jones, Paul McCartney, The Pretnders) went out with a nostalgic bang. Together they recorded the sounds of a Ludwig kit reminiscent of Ringo Starr's classic setup and a Gretsch Round Badge kit like Charlie Watt made famous with the Stones. It also features Noonan, Slingerland, and WFL snares as well as Steve Hubback Custom Cymbals. All in all, you get 8 gigabytes of quintessential drum samples to bring into your library.
