Comments about Ultimate Support HyperPad Mount with Pole Clamp, Mic Stand Goosneck, Desktop Clamp:
Just bought this, anticipating the joy of not having to set up a music stand with heavy binders. I loaded up my iPad with all of my charts and books, and was ready to roll. First, the clamp on this Hyperpad has a limiter, making it impossible to clamp to the upper extension of a mic stand. You'll have to find some sort of spacer, be it a cocktail napkin, or even the mic cord. I stand while playing, so I need to see the iPad while at the mic, glancing downward. I got the clamp on OK at a reasonable location on the stand, but the goose neck is too short; it has a very limited adjustment up/down/side-to-side, which made it impossible to see the iPad correctly. It simply wants to face OUTWARD, not UPWARD and IN. I finally had to borrow a straight stand, and attached the goose neck directly to the top of the stand, and attached the holder to that. Perfect! At this point, the clamp is useless. I have a small Ultimate Support boom that I'm going to try this weekend, attaching the clamp to the bottom part of the mic stand, and use the boom from the clamp, pointing up, and attach the goose neck to that. Too bad, because the holder seems to be built well; it's sturdy plastic, and I had no problem getting the iPad secure in the holder. I think the best use of this particular holder would be for someone who was sitting down, using a boom stand right in front of them. It's well-built, but if you stand while playing, you will need to purchase a small boom to make this holder work for you. This makes it a tough recommendation; I really like Ultimate Support products, and I have found their customer support to be very good. This particular product needs more tweaking in the real world.
