Great for the money

Comments about Venue Thinpar64 10mm LED Lightweight Par Light:

Nice LEDs for the money. They work perfect with real DMX data cables. They are bright, versatile, draw very little power, put off almost zero heat (nice for long gigs where you dont get fried under a heat-lamp par cans), and weigh almost nothing. Easy to haul and setup.
Downside is, they mostly entirely plastic and not durable. Suitable for fixed installations, or anyone who actually takes care of thier gear. Don't let your drummer pack these in his minivan, they will never survive. Get a case of a padded gig bag to protect them.
Does pretty much everything you want an LED par can to do; color macros, DMX mixing, automatic mode, strobe, etc....I didn't give it a higher rating because it lacks Amber LEDs, which are really nice to have to help warm up the colors.
Overall, lots of functionality.
Important Note: You must use real DMX cables with these lights. I tried going cheap and using XLR mic cables and the lights did not respond to my DMX controller. After switching over to real 110ohm DMX data cables, they worked perfect.
it's not very robust feeling. The plastic housing feels fairly thick but brittle. I think the DMX connectors are also plastic, definitely isn't what I'd call "road worthy". For the price, you can't get everything.
I take good care of mine and (so far) they have survived fine. Just don't expect to be able to toss them around.
Considering the price of other LED par cans, these are a good value. They are bright and work as advertised. Just be careful not to bang them around, as they are not super sturdy

Comments about Venue Thinpar64 10mm LED Lightweight Par Light:

These appear to be the exact same item as the Chauvet Thinpar 64 but for less. The ones I bought are exactly the same as described in the Chauvet description. These are really bright lights that are surprisingly well fucused- I aimed one at a wall 25 feet away with light coming in windows & still got a bright image about 8 to 10 feet across. These are almost spots but they do work as washes, especially if you want vertical patterns & not just a general fill. At full intensity these might be a little too bright to aim directly at your audience, they're better used to bounce light off something else. With DMX control you can of course adjust intensity of each color up or down & of course create any possible color by doing so. You can also use the buttons on the back to create your own static color without bothering with DMX. These come with the standard sound activated/master/slave etc operating modes as well. What there're doing at the bottom of the sort list I don't know. I'm buyiny more right now.
It's as bright as a standard PAR light but IT CHANGES COLOR! Without gels.
I give it a 9 only because it's plastic, but that really -is- probably the best choice.
Jeez. These are identical to Chauvet's Slimpar 64 at a lower price! And in general this type of light is a super value.

Comments about Venue Thinpar64 10mm LED Lightweight Par Light:

We use these units for our band's live shows and they work great. They're easy to set up and operate smoothly throughout the performance. They're very lightweight so we can mount them on top of the mains out front, which is ideal for lighting up the musicians on stage. A word of caution if you're looking at another company's LED pars and not planning to employ a controller. Due to static internal programming (non- configurable), the operation of sound active mode on some LED pars differs in a significant way from that of the Venue units. Under sound active mode on the Venue LED par, threshold sounds will trigger a color change but the light always stays on. On other LED pars I've seen, threshold sounds will trigger a color change in the same way but if the sound level falls below the threshold, the light will turn off after a few seconds. Depending on how frequent you want color changes to be, this can be undesirable during a live show because the light may switch off during quieter portions of a song. Make sure you take this characteristic into consideration when deciding which LED pars to buy. We found that the Venue units work best for the way we want to light the stage.

Comments about Venue Thinpar64 10mm LED Lightweight Par Light:

I purchased these for a new underpowered college theater running ETC board and equipment. No hassle beyond setting DMX addresses on all units. They power up instantly and play well with conventional instruments. Dial in any color you want -- no gels, and no dimmers! Output comparable to a standard 500 par-can which requires a dimmer rack and dedicated circuitry.

Very minimal power required and very little heat on stage.

Be advised: these power up faster than conventionals. If that's an issue, plan on doing lots of multi-step cues to accomodate this. Also, they can be inconsistent at low light levels. These are flood lights, not spots. There are no clips to attach barn doors or top hats.

Be advised #2: these require 3-pin XLR, unlike most DMX rigs that require 5-pin. Invest in adaptors and dedicated 3-pin cables from Chauvet, as well as dongles if you're strapping a mess o' fixtures in a chain. Even with these additions, they're still a heck of a lot cheaper than par-cans and dimmer racks.

Comments about Venue Thinpar64 10mm LED Lightweight Par Light:

Best Par64 LED for the buck. I ordered 12 of these and they all came packed very well. When I placed the order over the phone the sales person was excellent and assured me they would be packaged with care. I read horror stories from other reviews and luckily mine all arrived in great working condition. OK lets get to operation! First they are very bright. I am using a OBEY 40 controller (also from MF) and set the lights up in DMX mode 7 channel. DMX cables are a must if you want them to work properly. Do not scrimp on the cables. MF has great prices on the proper cables. The instructions with the lights were OK could have been written a little better but I really got the best set up info from U-Tube. There are lots of tutorials on U-tube that take the mystery out of getting the most from your lights. Highly recommend a little homework on DMX controls if you are new to this type of lighting. Each light has a pass thru for DMX control (excellent) and also an extra AC mains for stringing the power from light to light also excellent. I was up and running in less then two hours after figuring out the channels again U-tube video's the best help. They are very light weight but this comes with a penalty! PLASTIC lots of it! The only metal is the U-shaped clamp that holds the light fixture. Extreme care is going to be your best friend if you want these to hold up. I'm the only person in the band that handles the lights as they are my investment so will see after a year's worth of jobs how they hold up! The sales person did recommend the 2 year extended warranty which covers everything no questions asked. Even if a light tree gets knocked over by a drunken patron at the many bars we play. Hoping I never need it but you never know! Only used on two jobs so far and no problems. Whole system only uses 3 amps and that's all lights full on. No heat to speak of and the 7 colours they list on the box is just a starting point. Use your imagination when mixing the LED colour's and the sky's the limit. I'm very pleased so far with my purchase.

Comments about Venue Thinpar64 10mm LED Lightweight Par Light:

Been using these 64's for about a year now indoors and outdoors in various situations. They have been reliable since day 1. I am not wanting for more luminous output with these like I have other LED fixtures in the past - they're bright! The Thinpar also has a wider beam and field angle compared to the Chauvet Slimpar series. The 0.25A (@120V) power draw on these is great and allows me to use more equipment on a standard 20A circuit.

        Great to the 95% range

        By Drew Blanchar

        from San Francisco east bay

Comments about Venue Thinpar64 10mm LED Lightweight Par Light:

Why not a "10 rating"? The beam angle is like the Optima I bought in 2008 - about 16. With the really small stages I work, I'd prefer a set with the 45 like the Chauvet I bought in 2010.
The flatter body with the protection/cover plate make it even better than the half-melons I've purchased in the past.
But I'm happiest they've (1) simplified the configuration and (2) added a power outlet.

Comments about Venue Thinpar64 10mm LED Lightweight Par Light:

These fixtures are on the cheaper end of the spectrum when looking at LED DMX-controlled lights, but they're not cheap in performance. There's not much else to say about these things. The offer both DMX and power daisy-chaining, which is nice. They have RGB LEDs in them and can generate a multitude of colors and have simple a DMX channel controller scheme:

        > They can be set to just display a single color and have a fader control brightness.
        > They can be set to be controlled with 3 DMX channels to control the Red, Green, and Blue output values.
        > They can be set to be controlled with 7 DMX channels that control the RGB values, but also automatic color shifting, strobing, and sound sensitivity.

Using the strobing function is a bit disappointing, though. If you want to use these as strobes, I would suggest getting a proper strobe light. Since they only have RGB diodes, the white isn't true white – it has a bluish tint to it. The speed functions are also slightly unbalanced. The fastest strobe speed is okay, but not as crisp and clean as a true strobe, and the slowest speed is still quite fast.
Still, if you're just looking for fixtures to add some accent lighting with simple DMX controls, these are fantastic for the low price point.

Comments about Venue Thinpar64 10mm LED Lightweight Par Light:

We bought these for the theatre at the high school I work at as a cheap light to add some color. NOt expecting much punch from them but was very suprised the amount of lumens these put out. Hooked them up to an ETC Express board and allowed full control. We have only used on 1 show so far but they worked well in that environment. We did notice one "problem" twice while we were setting up and playing around with the lights we would notice 1 of the 8 that were daisy chained together would not light with the rest of the DMX'd lights. We simply uplugged it and plugged it back in and all was good with the world.
