A small footprint guitar interface that cuts out the hum but keeps the parts that are hummable.

The engineering brains at Waves and Paul Reed Smith guitars have put their heads together to create this high-quality interface which transforms your unbalanced high impedance guitar signal into a balanced low impedance signal, reducing hum and retaining your full dynamic range. The result is ultra-high fidelity at the most critical point in the signal path. The compact black box features studio-grade jacks, a large Gain knob, LED indicators for level, low battery, and power. It's transparent pre-amp and custom-designed circuitry are just what you need when you're ready to lay down your hot new guitar licks.

    Features

    • Transparent pre-amplifier
    • Custom-designed circuitry
    • Audiophile-quality components
    • Studio-grade balanced and unbalanced jacks (one XLR and 1/4" TS jack each)
    • Micorophone/line level outputs
    • Gain knob

Comments about Waves PRS Guitar Interface:

This box basically matches impadence, it's also a pre-amp which sends out a balanced signal, in mic AND line levels, so you can re-amp it in the signal chain or plug directly into a balanced input. If you work in a studio and mic your amps, you wont need this obviously, but for DAW application, this little doodad does WAY more than I expected. The output runs a balanced (mic) line into your inputs. And the damndest thing is that it really gets rid of that computer hum that has plagued many di daw recordings. It's quite the surprise. The signal also sounds much more full than DI or micing a clean amp. The output is not usb or firewire, it's an analog signal, which I heard some complain about, but personally I wouldn't want this to also try and act as an AD converter. It does what it says it will do perfectly, it gives you an incredibly clear tone to use with virtual amp plugins. Of all the consumer-grade guitar contraptions I have come across, this is the first that is actually worth using in legitimate recordings if you plan on using amp emulation.
