Excellent sound for a small system.
The AS108II is an 8" 2-way acoustic suspension loudspeaker system. Protected by a strong steel grille is a long-travel, composite woofer with a butyl rubber surround. A compression style tweeter, mated to a 60 degree by 40 degree horn for long throw and smooth coverage, handles high frequencies. The durable ACX textured coating protects the cabinet from rough handling and exposure to the elements. Pole or stand mounting is easy via the built-in socket, allowing the sound to get out over the crowd. Mounting points are also provided to allow wall or ceiling mounting.

I use these when playing solo gigs with midi-backing. I use a 150 watt Peavey 6 channel mixer and the combination gives plenty of body, especially to the midi instruments. The vocals carry well also. With the 150 watt amp, the speakers have never clipped. The small size is great for weddings, small clubs and coffee houses and don't "scare" the customers because of their size. With this kind of low wattage situation, the Yamaha's are way more full and punchier than my 3-way 15" cabinets. Yamaha done good. You can't beat the price for a pair of solid speakers.
I purchased and installed two pair of these speakers as a part of a church sound system, where they did not want large speakers showing. I was so impressed with them that I had to have a pair to add to my personal system. They are very portable and built to withstand the abuse of "giging". The sound is incredible for such small enclosures.
I bought these about a month ago and I have been pretty impressed, I'm now upgrading my studio, and converting it from more live band practice, to home recording/full band recording. I have been fortunate to have these, but I would rather have bought monitors for the studio....
I am very disappointed by this product, I really expected better from Yamaha. Every time I turn up the volume on the mixer past half way, there is a buzzing sound because of the speakers.
Just finished up my home recording/practice studio (10' x 13' room) and needed a permanant set of PA speakers to install, instead of using my gigging PA equipment. When I first saw them, I knew they were exactly what I needed. They sound terrific for their size. In fact, the size is really what sold me in the first place. Compact, but powerful enough. When I plugged in my old Yamaha CP60 electric piano to them, I was really impressed. They are crisp, can really handle some punch and are as clear as a bell. They even look good, too! The price is right and the brand name is dependable. Definitely the right speakers for this type of environment. These things weren't really purchased for use on the road, but I'll probably want to use them for some small gigs!
