We have owned this board for over a year now and love it. It is everything you need in a compact package. We play gigs from small ethnic club dances to large (3000 people +) outdoor fests and has worked great for everything. The adjustable amp output level lets us play the small rooms without blowing out the older people's ears. For the bid gigs we run each side at 500w to the speakers & subout the monitors. The standby mic feature is nice to have. We used to have all separate pieces for the P.A., mixing board, power amp, EQ, effects unit and all the flight cases for them - heavy stuff. Now everything is in a small, complete package that sounds great! We have received many compliments on how good it sounds and are not asked to turn down the volume level. We are very happy with the effects portion of the board and find we just have tweak the EQ a bit for the room from gigi to gig. This is a great package for someone who wants everything in a compact unit.

Simple layout, but the power amps are unstable. I couldn't turn up one vocal w/out making the limiter engage, and the release time on the limiter was long enough that it made a very noticeable difference when the sound dropped out for a few seconds. I had to borrow another 1000 watt bridged amp to start and finish the show. The FX aren't too bad, and the patching oppurtunities the board gave me saved the show.

I purchased this mixer at 4pm and used it for a gig at 6pm. Incredibly clear and powerful response for vocals, ease of setup, and outstanding digital effects. From amatures to pros, this board has it all. Specs say "small gigs", don't let that disuade you.. this one rocks the house and the stadium... you gotta have this!
I have owned this uint for two years. The unit has had flawless performance, inside and outside. This is a good buy. A must for running thru the house board and using the effects. Great for recording as well as playing out.
After a lot of research into how to replace the PA for our band, the one stop solution of a powered mixer is the perfect solution. And this unit has all the features we wanted plus plenty of power.
All the tools you need in one easy to carry package.I use all the power for the mains and a wireless in-ear system for monitoring vocals. It has an adequate nine band EQ for the mains and an excellent dual effects processor with an ample choice of programs. Channel EQ-ing is very good and the power is clean and accurately rated. The mono out with adjustable low pass filter is great for adding a sub but it does not affect the mains(no high pass). This is the only flaw I've found.Otherwise, a great unit.Don't be afraid to buy this one!
I was looking for a complete system for my music room for band practice, that would be enough if we decided to play out at small bars. This system is just the ticket. Easy to set up, enough inputs for a couple of guitars, bass, singers and to mic the drum kit. On board effects are nice but we're just starting to play with them. If you're not going "Mackie" and seperate power amps...this is the ticket!
Have worked professionally on the stage as a musician for over 30 years and owned many PA systems. This is by far the best. No distortion or feedback. Exceptional clarity and volume. Why buy anything else?
I have used other power mixers like the peavey XR800F and the XR800F+ but the EMX5000-12&20 has a lot more features like more inputs and outputs.
This mixer is a great value. It is built like a tank. The sound is good. The features very useful. I find it clunky to carry and am looking to get a case to trasport it. It works well for small gigs - the bigger gigs I use a Mackie 1604VLZ and use the EMX for my vocal, guitar and keybaord monitor.
I selected the Yahama EMX-5000 and Yahama speakers for our elementary school in Las Vegas. We have had it for about two years, and we just love the quality of sound and features we have learned to use. We use the system for many events: Movie night, 2 school plays, rockin' sound on field day, and special assemblies. We love the ease of setup, and the fact that there isn't full AC power going to each of the speakers. We have purchased some wireless mics for the plays and now wish we had purchased the 20. Great unit!
