I own several Yamaha products, (guitars, pianos, speakers), and this mixer lives up to the company's name. I purchased the EMX to replace 2 Peavey 1200 boards at our church. With the numerous effects built in, we didn't need our external ones. The sound loft never looked cleaner.
I bought this for our church band so that we could go on gigs outside of the church. We've played both inside and outside and this mixer is remarkable. The sound is incredibly clear and you certainly don't have to worry about volume. I think we sound as good with this system as we do inside the church which has a much more complex and expensive system. I highly recommend it for anybody looking for a good powered mixer.
This is a great mixer! I've used it for several months and it's got awesome power and pretty simple to figure out. Problem though is how to transport this unit. Yamaha don't have any travel cases available and generic case suppliers don't have anything suitable or customized. In vain I purchased one case that was actually heavier than the mixer itself and was really made for a larger mixing board... Impossible to carry. After transporting this unit a few times, you'll see how fragile it is and wish you could buy a protective case. In the meantime, my great mixer has already lost a few knobs.
The emx5000-20 is an extremely nice powered mixer. I have used it outside/inside/ cold weather/ hot weather. It has been jerked around and it still works flawlessly and is well worth the money. One good thing about it is that you can hardly tell that its even on because of its low noise. I'm sure this mixer would be great for anyone. It has the power, channels and leading brand for anything.
I was looking for a powered mixer system for doing small to medium size gigs. This board will handle it with no trouble! I have received nothing but compliments on the sound quality and the power by several groups that have played through my system. I purchased the Yamaha Club Series 15's and 12's to use as mains and monitors respectively. The last group to play through it said, "That's the sound we have been trying to get!" He was ready to sell-off his Mackie board and Peavey amp/speakers to go with the EMX5000 and Yamaha speakers. The sound quality is just incredible. The entire system is easily transported in the back of my Suburban with room left for instruments and a bass cab. If you are looking for sound quality, portability and ease of set up, you have got to try this system. Thanks Yamaha!!
After reviewing several boards, I kept coming back to this one. however I was hesitant on purchasing a powered board due to their limitations (many powered boards simply won't allow additional external power sources). This board allows a multitude of external configurations and it is extremely user friendly. The sound is very clean and the built-in effects are very good. After buying it I had a few questions concerning hooking up a digital recorder and the techs at Yamaha contacted me twice in one day until we got the situation resolved. Whoever heard of such a thing in this day and age? Anyway, if you're looking for a super board (with obviously good support) that won't break the bank you really should consider this one.
this powered mixer has everything you need. i'm impressed with every feature. the built in effects are top shelf, and the power is crystal clear. user friendly and a very professional sound. again i recommend this because i own it, and it has passed every test in every area. set up is simple, but make sure you read your ownwer's manual to get the best possible sound. It has features that you will overlook that will finely tweak your system, it is an awesome powered mixer. Great Job Yamaha.
I have owned this mixer for a few months now and have not had problem with it. It is great for small to medium gigs. The price cant be beat for the quality and reliability. It's practicly noiseless and has great sound reproduction.
This board is GREAT for live performance & also for capturing live shows!!! Hook a mini disk recorder to it & you are all set! Crystal clear sound!! VERY HAPPY!!!!!!!
I've tried many many mixers in my 18 years of live play and have always veered away from powered mixers until this one. plenty of power for small to medium rooms and with its built in crossover out, you can add subs with ease. great sound, great fx and with the phones jack an in ear monitor mix can be adjusted with ease. a great mixer for all applications.
