Comments about Yamaha MG124CX 12-Input Stereo Mixer with Compression and Effects:
Much smaller than stated, but has everything I needed. Would recomend to keep in a roadcase.
Comments about Yamaha MG124CX 12-Input Stereo Mixer with Compression and Effects:
I just love the "bang-for-the-buck" you get with the entire MG series mixer line. My only gripe is the external power supplies on the smaller ones (I believe all of them except for the 24 and 32 channel models have external power supplies). I suppose that, in the event of a PS failure (easy enough to check with a multimeter), it would be a cinch to order a new one and be back up and running without having the mixer sent to a tech for repair. Since PS failures are a significant percentage of equipment failures in general, this might seem like a "silver lining" in that cloud, but I've never had a single problem with any of the MG Series mixers. I would definitely opt for an internal power supply, but in the scheme of things, that's a relatively small gripe.
Everything is there that you could possibly need in a small format mixer for live sound. Sure it would be nice if the EQ section were deeper. but just look at what this thing competes with to appreciate how well spec'd this mixer is.
I've had a whole boatload of Yamaha MG Series mixers from the 24/14fx down to the 10 channel. They seem light and there is a lot of plastic, especially on the smaller ones, but everything works all the time, so Yamaha has definitely done their homework.
Like I said, just spend a moment comparing any of the MG Series mixers to whatever else is in the same category. The flexibility of the routing options, the channel controls, the reliability are all as good and almost always better than anything else...then look at the price. Value-wise, there really is NO competition.
Comments about Yamaha MG124CX 12-Input Stereo Mixer with Compression and Effects:
I have used this mixer for at least 3 years and I am going to but another one. I have owned many other mixers over the years, but this one does everything that I need it to do for multiple karaoke and DJ shows each week. I think my customers say it best, when they tell me that I make them sound so much better than the other KJ's. Part of that is because of this mixer. I would recommend it to anyone!

I've been using this mixer for 3 years now , and never I had to complain about it ! I've used as well as in live or even for movies !!! and I always had an AWESOME sound !
Comments about Yamaha MG124CX 12-Input Stereo Mixer with Compression and Effects:
I've recorded three albums with this little guy, running a couple mics through it and running it out into my PC into a recording program (GarageBand: also under-praised for it's massive capabilities.) This had been great for primarily the well-done reverb options, (both settings one and two) but also for the price. Sure, with some more expensive amps you may not have to spend any time getting a good sound, but... If you're strapped for cash and can put up with having to try.. this is worth the investment. Just spend some time with it and you'll be as impressed as I was.
Comments about Yamaha MG124CX 12-Input Stereo Mixer with Compression and Effects:
I first bought on of these Yamaha mixers about 3 years ago. Now I own 3 and use them at 9 shows every week (The oldest one gets yeoman duty 6 nights every week without ever a hitch). I use them for small live bands, karaoke and DJ shows. They may be small and lightweight but they're rugged and all have performed flawlessly. I probably wouldn't use these in my studio but for 'Live' performances, the sound I get is on a par with my bigger and far more expensive boards. I've used many boards from many manufacturers and for what I do, there simply isn't a better board. I get clean, smooth responses and the compression works so exceptionally well that I've eliminated the compressor from my rig.If you want a really good quality mixer and don't need a lot of mic inputs you simply cannot beat this little Yamaha.
Comments about Yamaha MG124CX 12-Input Stereo Mixer with Compression and Effects:
First of all This price is unbeatable for a mixer like this, you need mixer with 6 mic pres this is the way to go, the compressor is great, the onboard effects are semi legit, dont use them much, all the effects I need I have already. Very good quality, good feel , preserves desk space, BUY IT
Comments about Yamaha MG124CX 12-Input Stereo Mixer with Compression and Effects:
i used this mixer today...first off, i had to work with some crappy mics so thats part of it. second, this mixer doesnt have much to offer. the compressor didnt really seem to do anything but make the meter lights go higher, the eq is extreme...as in its either extreme lows or extreme highs. you cant do much with it. i recomend getting something you can do more work with.
