OVERVIEW

Extensive capabilities for live sound or studio applications.

The Yamaha MG32/14FX 32-Input 14 Bus Mixer with DSP Effects represents a completely no-compromise approach to PA. It's built for great sound, total control, and superior reliability and goes through the same rigorous quality and reliability tests as Yamaha's world-class PM-series mixing consoles. By taking full advantage of the latest technology and manufacturing techniques, Yamaha has been able to pack this superlative mixer with more value than you'll find anywhere else. In short, the MG32/14FX offers extraordinary performance and mixing power at remarkable prices.

If your application is live sound reinforcement, you'll want all the channel capacity you can get--just in case. Vocal mics, instrument mics, stereo keyboards, direct-injection feeds, drum mics, and the rest can add up very quickly. With 32 input channels, the MG32/14FX is ready to handle all but the most ambitious setups. And with dual SPX digital effect systems onboard, you won't need racks of outboard gear to get the sound you need. There's also a range of group and auxiliary busses to make even complex mixes easy.

32 input channels

The MG32/14FX has 24 mono microphone/line channels, with 4 stereo line channels.

Mic preamps with phantom power

All 24 mic preamps in the MG32/14FX are of exemplary quality. They offer low-noise, transparent amplification with the widest possible range of dynamic and condenser microphones, which adds up to cleaner, better-sounding mixes. All mic preamps feature switchable phantom power for studio condenser microphones. Phantom power is switchable in 8-channel groups.

Illuminated switches

Illuminated On (channel), PFL (pre-fader listen), and phantom power switches let you confirm critical console settings at a glance.

14 buses for flexible signal routing

With a total of 14 mix buses (main stereo program bus, four stereo group bus pairs, six auxiliary busses, and two internal effect busses), you get lots of input channels for the high demands of live sound reinforcement, plus room for group submixes or aux sends for external signal processing and monitor mixes.

Channel EQ

The 3-band EQ with sweepable mids provided on all input channels is designed for exceptionally smooth, intuitive response that can help you create cleaner, tighter mixes. All mono channels also feature a switchable high-pass filter that can cut out unwanted low-frequency noise.

SPX digital effects

Two high-performance digital signal processors are fed by separate effect buses and enhance the mix with 2 separate effects simultaneously. Each stage provides a selection of 16 pro-quality effects, including reverb, delay, pitch change, chorus, phasing, vocal doubling, distortion, and more. Parameter controls can be adjusted to tailor the effects to your sonic requirement. Tap delay makes it easy to produce tempo-synchronized delays.

Talkback input

Communication capability is important for an efficient setup as well as for keeping a show running smoothly. The MG32/14FX features a talkback system that allows the mixer engineer to communicate with other staff to keep the team operating at optimum efficiency.

I/O

All mono input channels feature insert I/O patch points so you can insert compressors, EQ, or other extra signal-processing gear into the channel signal path as required.

Professional connectivity is provided by reliable XLR-type balanced stereo and mono outputs.

One of the many uses for a mono output is to drive a subwoofer system. The MG32/14FX makes this easier than ever with a built-in sweepable low-pass filter on the mono outputs.

I use this as a mobile sound guy more than my mackie's, sound craft and my gl 24. It's light weight is a huge bonus for me being a sound tech like the rest with a bad back from many years of abuse. I do concerts in the parks for cities. Concerts from stadiums to pubs. FOH to MONS. Repair, service and installs. So I know what it takes and what doesn't work. I like the efx it has in it. I recently did a hip hop fest with the console and had a blast with the distortion. The delays are cool too. Some techs out there will stick thier noses up at cheap stuff but like I said I like this little cheap board.
The system I last used this board on was a jbl srx speaker aray with srx subs powered by crown xti amps. pristine sounding!
This board does more than a mackie 24 vlz. It is a great board for the price. One thing is that it would be nice to have another lamp socket on the left side.
I have used this board for a few years and keep it in the case when not in service. So being careful to protect it I have had no issues with it. It's not a high quality build such as the A&H GL card board. But if treated well and kept covered it should perform well. As most know who have had boards get noisy it's dust most of the time. So anyway I have not yet had to service it yet to see what is inside as far as the build.
Fantastic value. I have worked on the highest dolor boards and I don't mind working the mg 32 at all. I vote best affordable 32 out there.

Works For Me!

By Steimy

from Oregon

Comments about Yamaha MG32/14FX 32-Input 14 Bus Mixer with DSP Effects:

I've had this board for a few years, and for the money, I think it's the best mixer out there. I use it for almost all of my gigs indoors or out. I like the 6 aux sends, I use 3 for outboard effects plus I use the onboard effects as well. I have a separate monitor mixer for the stage, so I don't need the aux's for monitors. I use the stereo channels foe effects returns (3) and for the cd player. I also like the subs, I have a separate EQ on each sub (vocals, instruments, drums & kick), It's nice to have that much control. I wouldn't mind having 8 subs, but 4 works well enough. I replaced a older Yamaha board that I used in the 80's with this one...more channels, yet smaller and lighter than the old large format board! It's quiet, versatile, and I love using this mixer, I'm thinking of buying the MG24/14FX for smaller gigs!

Decent Board

By Teton72

Comments about Yamaha MG32/14FX 32-Input 14 Bus Mixer with DSP Effects:

I use this board every Sunday at church and quite frankly have been very disappointed in them. They have very poor control over the auxilary channels and struggle to produce a good sound when you push the gain past 12:00. The effects channels are practically impossible to use unless you thoroughly read the owner's manual. Basically, if you are using them for a small venue, get one. If not, save up some money and get a better quality board.

Comments about Yamaha MG32/14FX 32-Input 14 Bus Mixer with DSP Effects:

I've used serveral brands for 17 years now. Yamaha has proven to be the most consistant in it's quality. The Yamaha MG32/14FX console is the best Yamaha I've used. I've got over 1100 hours on this one in 2 years and I can't say enough great things about it. Great price for this size and class also. If you are in the market for a console this size, you can stop looking now. BUY IT!

Comments about Yamaha MG32/14FX 32-Input 14 Bus Mixer with DSP Effects:

This mixer gets used between 6 and 8 hours a week at my church. We used every channel, never had a problem. I think any problems with this must be few and far between. I put this mixer in almost 4 years ago, it replaced another Yamaha that was about 15 years old. The MG32 is awesome. Buy it!!

Questionable product

Comments about Yamaha MG32/14FX 32-Input 14 Bus Mixer with DSP Effects:

We purchased this mixer to use at our church. After having it a month or so one of the channels went out . We had the store we bought it from take it to the repair shop. It took a month to get it back because Yamaha did not want to pay the repair shop, but the dealer finally got it back and returned it to us. Now I am having a problem with the pfl's I'm not getting any sound through the headphones and no meter movement on 8 channels. I hate to have to have it repaired again but I guess I have no choice. It's true that you get what you pay for I guess.

AMAZING - BUY IT RIGHT NOW!

Comments about Yamaha MG32/14FX 32-Input 14 Bus Mixer with DSP Effects:

I run live sound for a mid sized band and we gig every month. I saw this in a magazine and knew that this would be a perfect board for the band. The band leader wanted to have certain options open to him as far as mics and monitors go. We now run 2 guitar amps miked twice and a bass amp twice. We also have a lead singer and two backup singers. As for drummers, I run 7 individual channels. Even with all those inputs, I have many left over as well. One of my favorite features is the 4 separate subgroups. I send all the singers to one subgroup, the guitars to another, and the drums to the third one. My other favorite about this is the 4 aux sends. I run all four monitors with their own mix and the band loves it! They can have their own sounds in each monitor. If you want a great board with every feature you can imagine built in, then check out this great mixer today.

AMAZING

By Techman49

Comments about Yamaha MG32/14FX 32-Input 14 Bus Mixer with DSP Effects:

I own this board in my studio in Chicago. It is such a great mixer for the low price and sound quality. I heard about it after using it at church and decided to buy it for myself. The endless amount of channel spaces is far more than what I need for a 15 piece praise band. I can mic all the drums separately! With the many aux out channels, I can direct out certain channels to different places without changing my main sound. I have also used this mixer live and it works just as well for live apps also. The subgroups and group features are also very helpful. This is an all around amazing mixer. Don't pass it up.
