Unique X/Y mic design captures perfect stereo images
The H4n's onboard X/Y stereo condenser mics are arranged with the right and left mics on the same axis. This design ensures that the mics are always equidistant from the sound source for perfect localization with no phase shifting. Frequency response remains uniform throughout your recording. The result is great stereo recording with natural depth and accurate imaging every time.

The mics also adjust for variable recording patterns at either 90° or 120°. Our unique design lets you rotate each mic capsule from 90° (standard) to 120° (wide-angle) stereo for the ultimate versatility in any recording situation.

Why four channels are better than two.
Everyone knows that proper miking is essential to making a great recording. The H4n is the only handheld recorder that allows you to record on four channels simultaneously by using its onboard mics with either external mics or direct inputs. Features:

The instruction manual is clear, with good diagrams. I heard about the H4N from at least a dozen other filmmakers; they gave it aces all around for performance quality and consistency. The buttons are easy to use and accessible. I'm taking it out for a test run this week.

Quality:

I especially like the hardy design and materials. It is not flimsy and plastic-y like some of the other recorders I looked at. Good, solid construction.

Value:

When I saw the price, I thought it must be for a refurb or used unit. Nope. It was a brand new unit, packed well and sent super fast.

Overall:

Really well built and designed recorder with clear instructions and excellent durability and sound.

Great little product for those on the go

Features:

This recorder is great for those needing a small, easy to handle, pocket recorder. The additional external microphone jacks allows multi-track  recording and I like the fact that it can run on 3 AAA batteries which means you don't have to spend time and energy looking for a power source. The only down side is that on battery power the unit doesn't completely turns off. It stays in stand by mode which after 5-6 hours totally drains the battery. But this is minor complaint compared to the positive advantages this device offers.

Features:

There are far to many for the average person...." Me" to even grasp.

I purchased this to record my ideas and music for quick notations, but this is an actual little studio.

I will need the help of the Internet to get me through all the ins and outs.

The Zoom has effects, mic settings, countless items.

Four track, Multitrack recording.  I could go on and on.

My suggestions go to the Internet and look up the videos on the Zoom, some are invaluable.

Quality:

I've only had this for a bit over a week, but it seems to be very well constructed and I am completely satisfied with my purchase.

Value:

For what the Zoom can do.....It's incredible

Overall:

My first suggestion, if you don't know the ins and outs of recording, the terminology etc, I do suggest that you find films and tape on You Tube to help you.  PRO Audio offers a DVD tutorial on the ZOOM H4N and I highly suggest the purchase.  

I stated earlier that It's me that is the fledgling recording artist others may have NO problems with the technological side of the ZOOM...

Features:

I am an intermediate trombone student with a strong desire to become an excellent musician and collector of unusual and antique trombones.

 

I had no idea of how I sound, but , this recorder has given me incentive to play my best and make each ptactice session a fun fill adventure. This recorder was purchased at a critical junction in my development..I am impressed with its clarity and tonal quality of what it records. It has made a big difference in what I practice and how I practice my lessons etc
