Throw into an effects loop, not the trash!

There is a lot noise and excess color this pedal adds to your tone due to the non true-bypass nature of this pedal.

i LOVE the way the chorus sounds. really buttery, full and rich chorus without sounding artificial like many choruses sound. mode 1 is very small clone esque, while mode 2, my favorite mode, allows for an adjustable depth, unlike mode 1 where the depth is preset. the vibrato isn't the best i've heard, but it is still pretty good.

If you enjoy Joy Division or Nirvana's chorus tones, this is the pedal for you, hands down. Just don't get frustrated with the noise, use an effects loop or effects loop pedal by Radial or the Boss NS-2's send/return. It will reduce the noise dramatically and you will be quite pleased with the results.

If you were looking for a Hooky sound, you have come to the right place. I did my research on what equipment Peter Hook used and finally i came across that he used the Clone THeory. It looks different from the original (which electro harmonix made) but the sound is the same, the only thing that is new is the STEREO feature. If you want your battery to last take it out, but other than that, just play all the Joy Division and New Order you want with this pedal.

Just tweak with it and you will find that inner Hook come out. ENJOY!!!

Just got this pedal about a month ago, I've peeked in at the circuitry and it looks pretty darn-well soldered, and the components look very durable.

The first thing you'll notice when you plug this mother in is that it adds a lot of noise to your signal. It's annoying and apparent when quiet, but it goes away once you play, and if you use a compressor or a microamp to boost your signal before it goes to the chorus, the noise can be taken away.

At first I hated this pedal because I didn't know my amp had an effects loop, so I had to run it through the guitar input - bad idea, you loose all the treble and presence that the chorus can offer. So at that point it sounded cheap and weak, like I was playing in a bathroom or something. However, the instant I figured out how to use my effects loop (five years and I never knew I had one! I blame fender's poor labeling, heh), I was amased with the deep dark and responsive tone this pedal had. I usually use chorus very lightly, with a slow rate to get a semi-Mike Stern sound. This recreated it perfectly! It also, like all EH pedals, can get some real weird sounds when the knobs are all turned up. The Vibrato is not something I use, but it is pretty versatile - if you turn the depth nearly all the way down, you can create an interesting tremelo effect.

This pedal makes Small Clones sound like tin cans; you can't find a warmer pedal without busting your wallet by about 300 dollars. If you don't mind a little extra noise, or you think you'd like a vibrato feature, go for this pedal. Even if you didn't need them, you'll be real proud to have this pedal on your board - I know I am.

The Clone Theory is a great sounding chorus pedal with classic looks and high quality construction. The chorus effects sound great and the vibrato effect sounds great as well.I was very impressed with the durable die cast aluminum housing. The Clone Theory also features a stereo out which makes the pedal sound even better when You play it through 2 amps or and amp and a PA system like I do.
