A Gothic chime

This is a really cool percussion toy, but it is not worth the price as advertised. I bought one on clearance for nine dollars, (ten inch model) and at that price I am very happy with it. I play dark, slower DBM metal mostly, and this is quite the chime for special effects. I use it with its own mic, and have the board guy add just a touch of reverb. I don't use any of the sizzlers or jinglers with it. I only want the pure tone.

If you can get it for a decent price, it is well worth it. Remember it is steel, so every month or so, very lightly wipe it down with light machine oil, then buff with an old towel. (rust prevention)

It does have a very haunting sound, and for the occasional use, fits well with what I play.

Pretty Good, But Somewhat Overpriced

I bought the 10-inch Celtic Bell about 2 weeks ago from a local store that was having a clearance sale, so I was able to get it for about 10$. I'd say for that price, this is one of the greatest add-ons you can buy. It's got a great, short, cutting chime to it that will be unlike anything else in your cymbal line-up. However, it is really loud, so it's hard for me to use it as a hi-hat alternative, so I mostly just use it for hi-hat accents. I've got it mounted on my hi-hat stand, and it adds a much needed jingle when I press my hi-hat down quickly. I’ve never heard nor used a hi-hat jingler, but this does create a nice jingle on it’s own. However, the nuts that connect the jinglers resonate A LOT if you hit them just right, and it can get really annoying, as it seems the only way to stop them is to touch each jingler. I wouldn’t get this unless you really wanted it and had good plans to use it, but if you can get it for less, it’s a steal.

Great and clear bell sound by themselves. High tone tambourine sizzle effects with jingles. Great to ride on for that low sizzle sound. Plus they just look great! The perfect thing to add to a metal drummers setup besides chinas! I plan to get the whole set.

The Celtic bells produce a nice tone with plenty of volume and sustain, like the Zil-Bels. Unlike the ZilBels though, you can use the shoulder of the stick to slowly and softly bring the Celtic Bell up to a nice crescendo. The jingles also produce a welcome sizzle, much like the decay of slightly open hats, with good sustain. Multiple sizes allow for different pitches and some great bell effects in soloing or playing.
