Got this bass not too long ago. Moved to a 5 string. Was time. Wow... tried many before I bought & none could compare. Bought used, but nearly mint. ZERO regrets. Sound is second to NONE, plays very smooth & bottom B sting is da bomb. Will never need another. Would prefer to have preset switch on bass (like Roscoe Beck model), but toy around long enough, you WILL find your sound, guaranteed!

This is an excellent bass. It is a tight package with one foot in the P-Bass camp and the other in the J camp. I own the orginal 2000 edition of this bass and it has never let me down. The tone is just the right amount of earthy and clear. Did I mention it plays like butta'? I have been able to cut through any recording or live situation. If you are looking for a great all-around bass, with a little extra bottom from that 5th string, this might be the right choice for you too.

Mine is a left over 02 model and except for the pickguard identical to the aged cherry posted here. I love this bass, it is by far the easist bass out of 5 that I have to play. I had to immediatly change the strings. The low B is tight and very usable. If you have the need for V'er I would recommend.

Mine's an earlier model, aged cherry burst ash with maple, mint green guard, 5-string w/lightweight tuners (18-volt circuitry). It's not a "10" - no active bypass (no batteries, no workies) and the pups aren't coil split-able like on the modern passive Am. P/J basses. However, it's a versatile TONE MONSTER - everything from ringing slap to Jaco staccato to phat, pants leg straightening dub mush. And everything sounds good/usable. That midrange pot is da bomb. Between that and the pup blend pot you've got every tone you'll ever need even with the bass and high trim at the detente. It's surprisingly lightweight, well-balanced and comfortable (and fast). The ash with maple gives the 'B' string plenty of clarity and definition. I'm no slap-master but this bass slaps with authority ("b@lls"). Very even string pull & volume across the fretboard. Action, tuning and set-up remain rock solid. Construction, fit/finish are impeccable and it is drop-dead gorgeous (looking as well as sounding). It's not quite as "honky" as a Jazz, but I like that - and it comes realllly close. The extended split-coil P-bass just has more power and big bottom than a J ever could. I have and want others but this bass is all any sane person would ever need: a fantastic, reliable, comfortable, beautiful, versatile, gigging/recording do-it-all (well!) workhorse.
