My son's guitar teacher has a P-Bass V Deluxe and I played it for a rehearsal with my son's band (alt-metal) through my Ampeg BA115T. I fell in love with the thing - rip-roaring tone, a breeze to play. Notes played on the 5th string, even when detuned from B to A, are like polished thunder. To top it off: this thing looks to be designed to withstand a nuclear attack.

Please, Fender - start making this bass again. It is a fantastic piece of kit and I plan to snap one up at the earliest opportunity.

I own one of these bad boys and I really like it. It has a real good sound and feel. Active electronics and that bottom pickup really give me what I need. I always liked the look of P-Basses but the sound was never clean enough for my tastes. This bass is a solid 5 string for any type of music you play. I do everything from gospel to rock to dub and I am very pleased with my axe. The only negitive thing I will say is, I have one (MIA) with all the keys on the same side. I don't know if I would like that one key on the other side, when I start rockin' I would probably hit one of my bandmates in the head with it!

Excellent Versatile Bass

I got one of these despite the fact that I prefer passive to active electronics. Gotta say, this bass sounds awesome. Only thing I don't like (very minor) is that it's not 5 inline tuning keys, but 4 and one on the other side. I got used to it though. The thunderous clear sound and feel of the maple fretboard are incomparable.

The slightly extra fretboard width, due to the extra string, is easy to get used to. Overall a great bass.
