Lush Sound for Less Money

I have owned a GA6CE for more than 2 years now and have enjoyed this guitar immensely. I just got back from a seminar sponsored by Martin Guitars where I had the chance to play instruments costing up to $7,400.00. I compared these back to back with my humble GA6 with silk and steel strings. While the Martins sounded lush and rich, especially the high end models, I found that I PLAYED mine better. Why? The wide fretboard gave me room for my finger stlye playing. The cypress top and 12 fret neck give a rich tone. The low tension strings made it easy for me to be more expressive in terms of volume and bending notes. Even my timing was better with the little Ibanez. Yes, I do have week hands. Yes, I would like a custom Martin, but to get something better than my Ibanez from the custom shop would cost a lot more. So, maybe I'll just play the hell out of my current guitar, and when it wears out, I'll buy 15 more and wear them out too! If you are considering a nylon string acoustic, I highly recommend you try the Ibanez GA6CE (or get a nice Jumbo Martin).

Good Budget Guitar

This is a great budget guitar. The only problems are the strings that come on the unit standard are very cheap and the Nut Bridge has a very squared sharpness to it, that if you are not careful when playing in 1st fret position you can take chunks of flesh out of your finger. Overall if you change the nut and strings you have a great guitar for a cheap price!

I bought the GA6CE about 10 month ago. I have been using practically every day. Love the fact that it has a strut-rod a future rearly seen on a classical gitar. In my expirience it took some reseaching in selecting my instrument. I tryed at four diferen GA6CE before picking the right one for me. Each one had its little problem, from buzzing frets to dificult to set action (even with the strut rod). went I took my GA6CE home it sounded great acustically, but reality hit me hard went I plugged to my Fender Deluxe, it seen it lost a few Dbs went plugged compare to other guitars at the same volume. Went it realy hit rock bottom was went plug to my Yamaha AW16000 Digital recorder, It took some gain to achive a good volume went recording and with that came noise. I'll recomend using a DI Box. This guitar shines acustically ran thru the same recorder with a Mic (Audio-Technica AT4040). Great Practice guitar. I am certain that if I had keep trying others GA6CEs I would have find the perfect one. Since them I have tryed others models and brands, but for the money this guitar is a good buy. Consider Ibanez AEF20 or Yamahas CGX series if you can expend a few dollars more.

Great, but with a few flaws

I really wanted a classical with a pickup, and I looked at and played this one as well as some yamahas and ibanez's thin-neck equivalent. I decided my fat fingers combined with slightly fatter nylon strings would be better served on the traditional wide neck. The guitar has a few flaws. The pickup made buzzing sounds when playing (only acoustically, not through the circuitry). I did a million things to isolate it and remedy it. Finally discovered that the little plastic sliders that control the equalizer were the culprit, so I just took them off. The strings were horrible. Replaced those with much pleasure. There is still some buzzing I cannot isolate. There were some very small scratches on the back, likely due to abrasion during shipping. I debated whether to send it back over that but I decided to just live with it. There also is a small defect in the gluing of the fretboard to the neck at the base of the neck. Decided to just live with that too. The sound overall quite good, but a little 'smallish' acoustically (but quite a bit larger sound than the AEG10NETNG). The pickup is great. If you're shopping, also look at the GA60SECE. Might be worth the extra few dineros.

The electric classical guitar

The ga6ce is great if you want to play classical music. If you're sick of using mics to amplify your guitar, the ga6ce is a great alternative. The neck is extra thick and wide and the body is thick for playing without an amp. You'll get a good sound with or without the amp. The tuning pegs look good even though they are plastic - they look like pearl. The cost is cheap when compared to the structure of this guitar. If it's classical you want with an amplified sound -- check this guitar out. It's affordable.
