I bought the EVH Flanger a few weeks back, and I like how many different sounds you can get. Surely won't be bored. The EVH button is nice since you can have your setting before, and get a solid flange sound with a push of a button. I can't say how it is on batteries, I use a DC Brick and have had zero noise problems. I wish it wasn't as expensive as it is, but it's a signature pedal, so what do you expect. I'd recommend it to any one looking for a durable flanger with a little extra tricks.

I got this pedal, and immediately upon opening the box, I noticed that the light under the EVH switch was broken. It was physically broken off and did not light. Also, the red indicator light went out when the EVH swith was engaged.

It sounded really good, but there were times when it would make my volume drop and kick back in, even when in the bypass mode, and as one other reviewer stated, it pops when turing it on and off. I had an original MXR flanger that I somehow messed up by pluging in a guitar with active pickups. THis new one did not sound anywhere near as THICK as the original. I am hoping that all these issues are realated to the fact that it is indeed dmaged. I have another on the way, so I will find out. I would also like to add that this thing takes TWO 9v batteries and it sucked them up in about 45 minutes! At 189.00 Dunlop could have provided the 18v Adapter that you need to keep this thing running! I also would like to say that I have owned 4 MXR pedals over the last 4 years and the swithces seem to be going on 3 of them, which is not good due to the fact that I kept them in my rack and they were always on, so the swithces didn't get hardly any use as I used a switcher to put them in and out of my signal.

The Perfect Rig

I was getting great sound out of my Wolfgang and my 5150 amps them I upgraded from my older 5150 to the new 5150 III series that came out, threw out my old BOSS effects pedals and replaced them with the EVH series and the sound became more perfect but if you want really EDDIE VAN HALEN sound the effects alone won't do it for you. I found the perfect rig when I added the EVH Phase 90 the EVH Flanger and the 5150 III series amps together and even more perfect when I received FRANKENSTRAT in the mail. You really do need Eddie's equipment to get his sound but these pedals are a good start to getting you there.

Adding the MXR EVH Flanger to my set up was a big improvement. It not only gives me a different sound to use off anf on during an evening, but it also seems to clean up some of my faster playing and make it sound more modern. The EVH button doesn't do much for me, but the variations of flanges you can get by setting the four different knobs are pretty much endless.
