Playing gigs or practice nearly silently Rhythm Traveler does it all! |
The Pearl Rhythm Traveler Drum Set with Cymbals sets up and tears down fast. Practice anytime without disturbing people in the next room, and then carry the same kit neatly stacked in the passenger seat of your car to do a live gig! Rhythm Traveler covers both these drumming necessities at a price well within reach of most working drummers. The 9-ply mahogany shells are made using Pearl's Heat Compression Shell Molding System, the same process used for all Pearl drums. Includes 10", 12", and 14" toms, with a 5" deep, single-headed design that allows them to neatly stack for compact travel. The 5" x 13" wood snare produces a very warm, full-bodied snare tone with excellent crack. Includes 2 complete sets of heads, one for live performance and one set of Pearl's Muffle Heads for silent practicing. Muffle Heads are manufactured of a super strong mesh fabric that responds like a regular drum head, while producing virtually no sound. Rhythm Traveler produces the realistic feel of a regular kit, complete with rim shots, every time you rehearse. To convert it from a practice kit to a live kit just change the batter heads and add cymbals. Speaking of cymbals, the Rhythm Traveler comes with real cymbals for live playing: a 16" crash/ride cymbal and a pair 13" hi-hats. Thick rubber cymbal mufflers are included for practicing. Rhythm Traveler is great for the working drummer needing a small portable kit, the beginning drummer needing to get started with a high-quality set, or any drummer who's tired of practicing at someone else's convenience.

I've owned a Pearl Rhythm Traveler for about a week now, and it is probably one of the most comfortable and easy to play sets I've ever used. Protone heads, as always, are crap but the mesh heads make an excellent practice tool. Im in an apartment and havent gotten a single complaint from the noise. Set up of the set took me about 10 minutes, and it fits in a midsize car with a 3/4 full trunk and 4 of the 5 seats occupied. The cymbals arent the best quality, either; you most likely are going to want to replace them, but after that you're left with an excellent set.

This is a really good choice, the mesh heads are convient but not completly silent, close but theres still a little noise left, turn off your snares too. The regular heads make the toms sound like marching band toms, they can sound ok with good tuning so dont immeadeatly get new heads. Cymbals are HORRID, absolutely gross get new cymbals and if you plan on having more than 2 cymbals your gonna need some more mutes, im using mousepads right now and they work great. Hmm.. what else, hardware is really good, pedal is very good and durable, everything is pretty good, Pearls beginner stuff is good anyways, they have a good standard of quality Really good set for an ok price!

I wouldn't say you won't bother anyone in the next room at all. These are great for small outdoor venues, practicing. Add mics to them right and they surprisingly can really cut.But if you play rock, theres no way they are silent to the "person next room". Unless this is only what you want, there are full 5 peice entry level sets for the same price or cheaper.

I originally bought this kit as a disposable jam tool that I would be able to take to college, but as soon as I opened the package I realized how amazing this set really was. The hardware is exactly what you would expect from Pearl, and although most people complain about the heads, I've had the set for a year already and my well tuned, well muffled heads sound incredible. My only complaint are the cymbals. They sounded like crap, after 2 months they warped, and by 4 months they were nearly torn in half. Buy some new cymbals and you have a roadworthy set that will keep on taking a beating.

This an excellent practice kit. I recently used this set at a private party at "lounge" volume. The set was easy to transport and the hardware sturdy. The small size allowed an easy set-up, but those Pearl heads are inadequate, at best. Playing at very low volumes resulted in the tom batter heads being dented and ruined after 3 hours. I have played for many years and have never torn or dented a head at any volume. I love those Remo heads! I wish Pearl would upgrade the heads on these kits and increase the price a little as the provided heads are not up to Pearl's high standards. I plan on using the excellent mesh heads for practice only as I have other Jazz-size kits for performance.
