The Tama Superstar SK 5-Piece Standard Drum Set - Tama's legendary drum series from the '80s - is back! Drum set has birch interior plies for power and great projection plus a basswood inner ply and a modern wrapped finish. The drum kit features die-cast hoops, the Star-Cast mounting system for increased resonance, minimum shell contact hi-tension lugs, die-cast claw hooks for bass drum, and new Quick-Set tilter hardware pack.

7-ply bass drum shell is composed of interior birch plies with basswood inner ply. 6-ply toms and snare are made of birch with basswood inner ply. Matched color wood bass drum hoops. Tom hoops are die-cast with the Tama Star-Cast Mount System for natural shell resonance. Tama Power Craft heads provide the finishing touch. This is a fine fine set (owned for one year) not the best but great. I bought only the shell pack so I know nothing about hardware. I have tried many heads and can say pinstripes will destroy this sets sound with way to much muffling, which sounds like your hitting a wet piece of card board. At the most I'd say a 2 ply coated and a good tuning is all that is needed personally I like one ply coated. The snare drum is sufficed with a singel ply head (though it may need muffeling for some) and a power stroke 3 makes the bass drum punch. Over all amazing set its no $$$$ kit but a phenomenal set none the less.

I had bought these drums a long time ago when they were new. I was looking for a nice beginner kit, little did I know I would never use any other drums ever. This kit is incredible it has the pro quality and sound and feature of a starclassic but there soo cheap. I've had these drums for 5 years never had to fix any thing. I find the quality tama has put in these drums is awesome. This is the best kit you are going to get under $900, actually the best kit ever, buy this kit you will not be disappointed. The only downside is Nothing no problems. These drums are great for rock, metal, jazz, pop, fusion, country, latin, and reggae.

These drums are sweet! The hardware they come with is very sturdy, the heads dont sound bad. The pedal is pretty nice. The bass drum is a cannon, very deep! I got the drum set in black and they look great. I'm very impressed. This is a great set for sombody whose in a band or doing gigs, And the price isnt to much either but quality is not sacrificed.

This set is absolutely incredible. The Star-Cast Mounting System truly brings out the pure, resonant sounds of the toms. The snare rings a little bit but it is without question near perfect quality. I bought this set almost a year ago and I absolutely love it. I wouldn't give up this set for any other. Price is decent, quality is amazing! If you are looking for the perfect set, look no further. I just got this drum set about a week ago. It sounds so good, the bass drum is a freakin cannon! and the self muffling heads(on the bass) really work. The hardware is top notch! It looks and sound great. Its a steel. No regrets at all! I also bought the ziljian ZBT cymbals and I love them.
