I got this thinking that the analog chorus and true bypass of this unit would be usable. It's NOT! I have a killer Dr. Z StangRay amp and this thing darkens up my tone and boosts the volume slightly as well. I don't use chorus that much, but this thing is mostly un-usable. It either sounds like a leslie or like a very dark chorus.

I like to use chorus to bring out the highs when I'm playing clean chords or fingerpicking flat-top style stuff. This makes the notes almost indistinguishable. Totally un-usable!

I'm actually an endorsed VooDoo Lab artist, but I still have an unbiased opinion of this product. I've been using this pedal for about 3 years now and it is phenomenal. I've tried nearly every chorus pedal on the market and have had issues finding what I was looking for ... For me, I wanted a setup where I could run guitar to chorus to amp (all in-line). For this setup, you simply can not beat analog sound for realism (it is noisey however on a high gain amp and a noise suppressor will be absolutely required - a fair trade off for the tone gain). Very simple setup, not a ton of knobs to have to continue to tweak for the right balance of effect you are looking for. I do still use a Boss chorus pedal in my effects loop for solos and clean picking work, but the VooDoo Lab pedal stays on throughout everything I play. It gives everything a fuller tone - and even though not advertised - it adds a little bit of bottom end and a slight boost. If you picky about tone and dislike the false sounds of many digital effects - then this is your pedal!!!

This pedal reminds me of the Roland Jazz 120 amp chorus that was a standard for many years with studio musicians. I have another chorus I use all the time "boss super chorus ce2" it is what I am comparing the Voodoo pedal against. Where the Voodoo falls short imho is it's over the top intensity knob that has to be set well past 12 o'clock to get thick, trouble is that when you get there the chorus sounds more like a Flange or Phaser until you back it off. It does fill out sound nicely and the speed knob will give you a Leslie style swirl...but that's not what I expect out of a chorus and this is almost not a chorus pedal. But if you want a pedal that can phase intensely then here you go. This is a great second pedal or experimentation pedal and in my opinion colors your overall sound too much, but if you want more traditional chorus sound try Boss or TC. They are expensive too, but they sound like a traditional chorus pedal. I am going to keep this pedal as it is just different enough to have it's own classification of sound. This Pedal is another great tool.

I bought this pedal to help fatten up the sound of my Fender Stage 1000 clean channel, and I am so glad I did. As soon as I hit the stomp button, the sound gets tighter and has such a nice, lush effect. It's better than my old Boss chorus pedal. The price is a bit steep, but if you can one, I would recommend this over the Small Clone.

Honestly, I don't have much experience with chorus pedals, but this pedal is one of the most prestine, organic, noiseless, richest sounding pedals I've heard yet. Ear candy. It compliments my sound so much, no matter what style I am playing. I gave it a 9 for features ONLY because it has 2 knobs... some choruses have more, but I can't complain, this does the trick and then some. Simplicity can be a great thing too.
