I own this recorder as well as several others in the Yamaha 300 series, and it has a wonderful reedy sound. Yamaha has delivered a fantastic, quality product even though it is plastic, and at a fraction of the cost of a wooden recorder, you are getting an incredible instrument. It is easy to play and to maintain as are all of the 300 series recorders. If you are a beginner, it comes with a fingering chart, tenon lubricant, and a cleaning rod all packed nicely in a soft-sided case. Please check it out!

Once again, Yamaha has come through with one of the best sounding recorders I have ever played. The ease of assembling and maintaining the recorder is fantastic. The price is super. I have enjoyed every moment of playing it at home and look forward to performing with it in public.

I have the entire Yamaha 300 series - sopranino, soprano, alto, tenor and bass. They are as good as any wooden recorders I have ever played. I've just completed my second CD using these recorders in consort. I HIGHLY recommend these recorders for their intonation and reedy tone quality.

I've been playing recorder most of my life, and have owned dozens of instruments. A friend suggested that I give this Yamaha tenor a try. This instrument is an outstanding value for the money. It has excellent response, ample volume, lovely tone and climbs in the highest tone with ease. The split key design functions better than any other tenor that I've played.

Yamaha has succeeded in making a plastic recorder of superior quality that quite honestly holds it's own against many high end wooden recorder costing much more. I'm so impressed that I'm buying the other sizes (soprano, alto, bass) that they offer!
