        Amazing honesty

Truly astounding sound for the very type of flat input monitoring that allows me to feed good sounds in, over half the battle if you're an ol' analog guy working in digital; still comes down to what goes in! If you can get a set for just the laptop, unbeatable!

        solid meat

I love these things to death... for the price range there is no way you can do better. Only complaint is that the inputs are 1/4", so to use RCA or 1/8" stereo you have buy adapters.

        Not bad

        By Paananenstudio.com

I've had this combo along with some BX5's as well for over 2 years. Unfortunately the monitors don't have any bass response, but that's expected because they are only 4" cones. I wouldn't use this setup for my main playback system if you are a serious engineer. Even with the sub making up for certain frequencies, the monitors miss out on a lot of mid-range as well, so you would have to EQ your playback signal in order to get a perfect RTA response. They are perfect to complete my surround setup though. The sub is awesome, plenty of power, and I love the amp. I use the amp to power other things as well since it has 6 seperate channels of input and I only use 2 for the speakers. I have upgraded to 8" cone monitors lately, just because it's hard to mix with a sub all the time, but I still love this setup. It's definitely worth the money, and they go great together.

Superior Quality for an Inferior Price!

        By Music_Period

This monitoring system is undoubtably one of the best sounding systems I have ever owned. Though the low price will make you question the quality, these M-Audios are obviously very under-priced. As far as sound is concerned, the two satellites carry a strong and unbelievable clean, crisp sound, without coloring your mix. And the adjustable sub-woofer holds a stable low end for mixing, monitoring, or whatever your situation calls for. Clarity and control is what makes these monitors great, two very important commodities that the competitors don't have. M-Audio has out-done itself with this very affordable, top quality system.

        Best Buy

        By digiRas

I originally bought this system cause my wack alesis RA300 hooked to my Event monitors blew. Needing a replacment, but low on dinero, I weighed my options and decided on the LX4 for price and ease of setup. I've had them for 4 or 5 months and I must saw I didn't really realize until now how sweet they are, period. I'm ordering the other 3 monitors today for the ultimate mixdown.

        Clean, Solid, Precise Sound!

The subwoofer is VERY powerful and provides a very 'low' bass; Great! I look forward to the expansion pack comming soon.

        Great sound for the price

These sound great for amature compositions and projects. Frequency range is all you need, and they sound strong anc clear even at very high volumes. The subwoofer is a must, the monitors do not have low frequency capabilities. Overall if they are balanced correctly, the subwoofer and monitor combo sounds wonderful.

        Nice upgrade for me.

        By kurth

I use these as practice speakers. These are DX4's with a sub, short 5' cables provided, they are "near-fields" so they need to be close to your ears and pointed right at them. They claim 40hz-20Khz +1/-3db, the report that came with my speakers was more like 40hz-20Khz +/-3db with a mild spike at 700hz-1400hz, EQ that out and you can get even flatter.Adjustability of the woofer is very accurate but you can't dial in a lot of extra bass. For fun I EQ'd up the bass on my keyboard and played some kickin bass material, the bass was surprisingly clean and loud.I made the satellite amps clip however by EQing up the lower mids in a test, no problem getting plenty of volume with normal EQ curves however (with added bass too). The highs are beautiful but not harsh. It has crystal clear stereo imaging with a pure flat sound field. You could reach out and touch the instruments. I added some chorus and reverb and it came to life in immersive 3D sound just like it should.

great deal, especially with the free expander pack

        By Anonymous

Good sounding, cheap surround monitoring. A ton better sounding than the Alesis surround speakers (which are just Logitech's z680 system rebranded & overpriced). On the positive side of things, the system is LOUD and clean. I was a bit reluctant to plunk the cash for these when reading the 60watt sub and 27watt sattelite ratings for the speakers. When Musician's Friend had a "throw-in-the-expander-pack-for-free" sale, I jumped on it.After using them for a few days, I like them. The Sattelites only handle 140Hz and above, so the 27 watts is more than enough. And the sub can be set for too much or too little; getting it just right is easy. (the alesis were very bass heavy)On the negative: the rear panel mount for power and volume controls is a drag, as is the lack of an integrated DTS/AC3 decoder. The included speaker cables for the 3 front speakers are 6', which I found OK, but the cables for the rear are only 12'. I'd have liked 18 to 24 feet to be able to dress the cables.Sound wise, they're flatter than my jbl 4311s, but do not sound as lively on the highs. The midrange feels honest, maybe slightly too present, sorta like ns-10s, but with good bass.for the $, this is probably the best on the market.
