You don’t get to be one of the most respected and in-demand guitars in rock ’n’ roll by remaining static. The Burbank, California-based Schecter Guitar’s 2008 lineup features not only super-cool new models, but also several sonic enhancements to their already hot sellers.
Known for their versatility, Schecter has not only expanded and improved their popular Hellraiser and Damien collections, but has also introduced several new models, including the yesteryear-influenced Stargazer 6- and 12-string models.
The Hellraisers, already loaded with upscale features including TonePros and Original Floyd Rose bridge systems, now include GraphTech nuts that dramatically increase tonal clarity and tuning stability. All 2008 Hellraisers are armed with EMG Active 81TW and 89 humbuckers. This new configuration will drastically increase the Hellraiser’s array of tones—going from a brutal metal crunch to the classic chime of an SA single-coil—all with the touch of the dual volume controls. The Hellraiser Collection now includes the 006, Sunset, and V-1 models.
The Stiletto Classic, according to Schecter, was “designed to be the ultimate prog-rock shred guitar.” It seems to be that and a whole lot more! Strikingly beautiful, the Stiletto boasts a multilaminate neck-thru-body construction. The ultrafast 25-1/2"-scale neck is topped with a smooth ebony fingerboard. The soul of the Stiletto comes from its three active EMG pickups. The 81TW/SA/SA set yields seven distinct tonal combinations, making this guitar one of the most versatile instruments on the market. The new Schecter/Gotoh tremolo system is the most advanced, responsive locking tremolo on the market—combining precision plating, tuning stability, and expression. The Stiletto-6 provides many of same features in a more affordable package.
Building on the success of many 2007 models loaded with the Duncan Designed Active HB-105 humbuckers, Schecter is the first company to offer the new Seymour Duncan Blackout Active humbuckers in their new BlackJack ATX Series. Finished in aged white and black, the ATX collection includes the C-1, the Original Floyd Rose-equipped C-1 FR, and the extended scale C-7.
As you can see, a lot has changed at Schecter this year. What has not changed is their basic philosophy adopted ten years ago with the introduction of the Diamond series. That series raised the bar and changed the industry standard for an affordable guitar with innovative designs by musicians, for musicians. Upscale hardware and electronics, unequalled quality control, and amazing set-up and playability right out of the box—Schecter Guitars.
