OVERVIEW

A sculpted and feature-rich pedal from the hardware masters at Gibraltar.

The Gibraltar G-Class single pedal was inspired by the demand for a pedal that could offer an ideal blend of power, speed, and style. The result is exactly that. Elegantly fusing innovation with function, the G-Class pedal is loaded with groundbreaking control features like a single-pillar frame with enclosed spring tension, dual-adjustment cam drive and a footboard with height and beaters that are independently adjustable. The unique design eliminates setup complexities, and allows the player to fine tune the pedal's "feel" quickly and precisely.

Gibraltar's G-Class pedal is a one-of-a-kind, high performance machine-from the beater, all the way down to the die-cast foundation plate.

Comments about Gibraltar G-Class Single Bass Drum Pedal with Case:

The good is that I really liked the action on this pedal. Very smooth with good acceleration into the drum head. Not super fast but that is the way I like it.

The bad is that the bottom plate is a little big, which means for cramped setups where the snare stand feet are near it, you have to work around the width of the pedal. The ratchet mounting system is the reason for this.

Another thing I didn't like is that when sitting flat on the floor and clamped to the bass drum hoop, the beater is actually positioned to strike to the right of center of the drum head. I suppose this may not matter but I like to put an EQ beater patch right in the middle and hit that... not 2" to the right of it. And because of the single post design, you can't really move the beater over to the left enough to make up the difference.

But the reason I sent this back is that like the previous review, I had the metal plate on top of the beater fly off before my first gig with this pedal ever started. And of course then weights came out too. After hunting down the pieces I was pretty amazed that Gibraltar thought glue was enough to secure the all-important metal/magnetic plate onto the top of the beater ball. You'd think they could screw it in at least.

So, for as big and heavy as it is -- kind of junky.

Comments about Gibraltar G-Class Single Bass Drum Pedal with Case:

I use this pedal in my practice time and gigs. Easy set up, easy adjustment. Smooth and quiet. The only negative was that the top metal plate of the mallet fell off making the weights useless. I had to glue the plate back on after 1 hour of use. I've only owned one other Gibraltar product in the past and it broke after a couple uses. I'm not confident that this pedal is going to last. Don't think I'll be purchasing anymore Gibraltar products.

Comments about Gibraltar G-Class Single Bass Drum Pedal with Case:

I bought these pedals about 3 weeks ago. Got them set up to my liking. Rehearsed with them about 2 hours. Then went readjust tension on spring. (made them a little looser). The left pedal adjusted fine, but when I went to adjust the right pedal, it would only loosen tension so far & stop or lock up. It was like it had a burr on the threads of the spring. Kept working it back & forth until it finally started working. Played 1st 4 hour gig with pedals & all went great. Mind you...all this time I'm playing with the felt side of the beater.....Played 2nd 4 hour gig, & into the 2nd hour of playing, half of the felt on the right pedal beater fell off. Now I'm not a complainer, because to certain extent, I realize that things will break over time, but not after 8 hours of playing. I did not send the pedal nor the beater back, mainly because of the hassle. Packaging, Shipping, notifying..you get the picture. So I glued the piece of felt back on & started using the hard side of the beater. Also in my personal opinion there is a design flaw in this pedal. If I decide to keep them, I will fix it my self. Where the spring mechanism lies in the protective housing. If you push the pedal all the way down & then let your foot off quickly, when it bounces back, the mechanism that holds the top side of the spring, hits the back/top side of the housing. In other words the spring mechanism should float freely without any deflection or noise. This is not comments to down Gibraltar or its products, its to make people aware. Thanks for letting me rant. Fred in Jax. Fl.

Comments about Gibraltar G-Class Single Bass Drum Pedal with Case:

I got this pedal after playing a DW9000 for quite some time. It did take time for me to get used to this pedal, but once I did, I was really grooving with this.
What I like about this pedal compared to the DW, is it's cheaper, but more importantly, it is much easier to use and adjust your settings.

Admittedly, when I first got this, I was a bit disappointed. My major complaint was the foot board. I have big feet, size 14 wide. I had to adjust my foot placement on the board in order to groove out on these. However, the more I used it, the more comfortable I got with it.

It is not as buttery smooth as the DW. However, it has this great balance of speed, response, bounce, that really gives it a unique character.

Great action. Great features. Last pedal you will ever need to own. Unless it breaks. Or is stolen. Then you will need another one.

this is a very fluid and responsive pedal ive been playing for 27 years and this pedal is different from any thing ive ever played my only complaint is the footboard could be wider it makes it hard to slide its the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars but I love the pedal and will stick with it buy this pedal
