Comments about Ludwig Atlas Standard Kick Pedal:

I would recommend this pedal for practice only because I don't think it would hold up under heavy use. When it arrived I immediately hooked it up to my kit to try it out. Once I had adjusted it I was pleasantly surprised at the great response I got from it ( I actually fell in love with it ) then after just a couple of practice sessions....... The spring tensioner broke !!! Mind you, the tensioner wasn't overly tightened, I think it broke as a result of heat produced by a lot of double and triple clutching, like I said before it adjusted to my liking easy enough and, I fell In love with it. MF didn't have parts for it which I would have been glad to get so, they were real good about sending me another pedal. I will continue to enjoy it for practice but it won't be joining me on any stage.gibraltar chain drive would continue to be my first choice for the road but , the Ludwig does very well in practicing

Comments about Ludwig Atlas Standard Kick Pedal:

I learned how to play on a Speed King as a teenager. Three years ago I started playing drums again (35 now) and have a decent double pedal. However, wanted a single pedal that was more solid than the Speed King and fast enough to bust out doubles on one foot... and get the space back from the double pedal ( Im 6'5 325 I need a lot of space). I looked for several weeks and had kinda settled on a DW 5000 from a local shop. Super nice pedal. Smooth and faster than me. But two hundred bones. I found the Ludwig Atlas Standard on here the same day and it "looked" like comparable mechanics for around eighty bones... So i took the internet leap of faith and bought it. I have to say I like it better than the 5000. It is just as smooth, just as fast and it fits my foot perfectly! I could not be happier. If you want an awesome pedal for an awesome price get this one. If you want an equally awesome pedal for one hundred twenty bones more go with the DW 5k.

Comments about Ludwig Atlas Standard Kick Pedal:

I got this as a replacement pedal for my Roland V-drums. I'm very pleased with it. It feels good, quite solid and fast, with perfect triggering. My only complaint is that it comes with no documentation. On the box itself, there are images to indicate areas which can be adjusted, but no details on how, etc. I guess it is assumed that experienced drummers just know these things, but drums are not my main instrument. Fortunately, being totally pleased with the action, I don't feel any need for adjusting esoteric functions such as the spring or chain, and was able to figure out mounting and beater adjustment on my own without much trouble.

Comments about Ludwig Atlas Standard Kick Pedal:

I am what I would considered a very seasoned recreational drummer. I have been playing for 18 years, and have played in several bands (none of which ever made a record), and currently play bands at my church.
While I may not have "road experience" I can tell you that I was a true gear snob for a very long time, and have bought, borrowed, demoed etc... just about every pedal out there.

          I have personally owned:
          Iron Cobras
          Speed Cobras
          DW5000s
          Pearl Eliminators
          Mapex Falcon
          Gibraltar Prowler, Avengers, and Intruders

And have also played on Demon Drives, DW 3000s (current pedal on the kit I play at church), DW 9000, and Yamaha flying dragons.

What I can tell you about this pedal, is that if you know what you are doing, and can set up a pedal to your liking... this pedal is FANTASTIC. It is kind of a pain to get adjusted, but once you find what you like and lock everything down... it is smooth, fast, reliable, nothing moves, and is everything that you could ask for in a pedal!

For what it costs, this thing DESTROYS any pedal that is TWICE this price.
Given the choice between this and any other pedal that isn't a flagship model, it is a total no brainer!!!

Invest some time in getting it tuned to your liking, and this pedal will outlast your patience

Comments about Ludwig Atlas Standard Kick Pedal:

I'm a bass player, not a drummer; however I have a kit in my garage I mess about on and so my drummer doesn't have to haul his kit to my house for practice. I can hold down various 4/4 rhythms, but ain't no pro. My only complaint is I wish this pedal had a toe lip because my foot has a tendency to slide forward on it when I play quickly. My drummer has no complaints about the pedal and says I just need to practice more. It is a good solid pedal with the ability to adjust it to your play style.
