VI.one, overall, is a good set of instruments that you can obtain. You have to be a bit wary though, though it struts "2000 instruments", maybe 1/3rd of them are actually the same instruments with different effects added...Example: Nylon Guitar, then Nylon Guitar Soft Pluck, then Nylon Guitar Cathedral. The install also makes things a bit hard...Make sure you are able to view invisible files before you look into the first disc (out of 3), or you'll be looking for a setup.exe for hours. Having to copy instrument data from disc 2 and 3 can be a bit time consuming (about 15 gigs to copy over to the installed folder). Effects are good, but they come from the Kontakt 2 that comes with the Virtual Instrument. Soundwise, basses are good but they only have about 4 acoustic and 4 electric, as well as some synths, and may not replace any bass library you can get. Strings are somewhat lacking, guitars are good for sampled guitars but may include a lot of tweaking, pianos are actually pretty good, even when adding effects. Organs are okay, keyboards are pretty normal for this day and age...One thing I must boast about this is the drums. About 50 hip hip kits, 10 of the 80's kits, decent acoustic drum kits (that take a bit of loading), plenty of electronic, R&B, pop, and other kits as well as loops if you can't seem to make your own drum beats. I recommend this to anyone looking for decent drums and an overall expansion to their studio, though I wouldn't suggest this studio if all you need are string and bass add-ons. Be wary of the space (21 gigs or so) and installation and you should be okay.

Comments about Big Fish VI.ONE Virtual Instrument Software:

I use this within Kontakt 5 on a Mac and have had no problems installing or using it.

Good selection of orchestra sounds and variations (need a piccolo trumpet or bass trombone or alto flute; they're here. there's even some decent pop horns). Solo and section strings have good sound and the usual articulations, including harmonics.

Pianos are good (prepared pianos too) and varied with verical jazz spruce being a favorite. Guitars, basses, synths, drum loops. There's even an EFX section.

Got a C note? Even if you have other libraies, there's something to like in this collection.

Comments about Big Fish VI.ONE Virtual Instrument Software:

I bought this to use for roughing out song ideas quickly. My material varies from thrash punk to classical, and everything in between, except rap. But then again, we are talking about MUSIC. Seriously, it has tons of voicings, loops, and samples, even for rap music. As one reviewer mentioned, there are many variations of instruments, but even if there are only 1000 voices, most of them are very good. Some are pro level, but all are at least demo quality. Uses Kontact 5 as the interface, which I already was familiar with, so there was no learning curve there for me. Installs easily in windows systems, and works well as an instrument in cakewalk DAWs.

                Good Value- Mac Install Fixed

                By Barry Frye

                from Undisclosed

Comments about Big Fish VI.ONE Virtual Instrument Software:

I was initially worried after reading installing (especially Mac) issues. Those are no longer a problem. You don't even have to download the Leopard fix and they have even updated the software to include Kontakt 4- although it showed up in my already installed Kontakt Player 5.

So, it installation fear is holding you back, don't worry- everything went smoothly.
Because it's wrapped in Kontakt, features are what you would expect in that player.
Sounds are of high quality- especially for the price.
If you are looking for an overall variety of sounds, this is about the only ticket around for cheap. I searched and searched and either other products are more genre specific or 5 times the price. An older product, but the value is still there.

                Great Instrument - AWFUL Installation

Comments about Big Fish VI.ONE Virtual Instrument Software:

Greetings, Bad news first - by far this has to be one of the worst pieces of software I've ever had the displeasure of installing. It's taken me over 2hrs. to figure out what's required for getting it up and running on my MacBook Pro. Let me save you some heartache(1) Go to the Vir2 website and if you are running MAC OS 10.5 and above you must install the Leopard patch. This is very important or V1,One will not install(2) Forget whatever came on the DVDs. Go to the Vir2 site and download the latest version of Kontakt Player, Instrument Collection and Service Center. To be sure Click the Support Button on the Vir2 site and check the forum for V1. Install Kontakt Player and Service Center. Save the Instrument file update for later.(3) Using the Leopard Patch Install V1.One - write down the directory you choose to install the Instrument files(4) MANUALLY copy the NKX files from DVD2 and DVD3 to the same directory you chose to install the Instrument files(5) Update the Instrument files using the data you downloaded from Vir2 in Step 2. Go to the original V1.One directory you established upon installation and Overwrite the INSTRUMENTS folder. You can also copy the Drum Loops MIDI files to the Instruments directory, though this is not documented anywhere. It will download automatically with the Instruments file. Same routine, wipe out the old one and replace with the new one(6) Boot Up Kontakt Player 2 - you will find it in the Application Directory. Then run the NI Service Center to register Kontakt Player 2. You may have to update the software

Comments about Big Fish VI.ONE Virtual Instrument Software:

I just recently picked up this product, and I am having a time installing it properly. It seems as if only a portion of the sounds actually installed onto my system. I would hate to bash this product due to user error, but I have never had this type of problem with anything. I have two mac systems and I had the same concerns. Now of the sounds that did process, it was great. I am just having problems with accessing all of the sounds with ease. or without having to go through a search to access them. Never the less, from what I have been able to use, I do feel tat once I fix this problem, I will greatly appreciate this product.
