Comments about Yamaha YRA-314B Alto Recorder with Baroque Fingering:

Musician's Friend did an excellent job of getting the back ordered recorder shipped in time to arrive before Christmas. The recorder arrived in excellent condition and was far more beautiful than the description.

Comments about Yamaha YRA-314B Alto Recorder with Baroque Fingering:

This is the best plastic alto recorder I have ever played, and it does indeed have a very nice tone. It is better than cheap wooden instruments, but it does not really compare to a good wooden instrument. It is actually easier to play-- the high notes speak more easily than on many good wooden instruments-- but it does not have the rich tone quality that a good wooden instrument has. I would hesitate to use it in a performance which I was being paid for. On the other hand, I use it often in practice sessions with other musicians, since I don't have to worry about it being damaged by weather conditions. Another advantage it has over wooden instruments is that it never needs to be revoiced, as wooden instruments always do. It is incomparably better than any of the less expensive Yamaha instruments.

      Beautiful sound!

Comments about Yamaha YRA-314B Alto Recorder with Baroque Fingering:

This alto recorder has such a wonderful tonal quality that it sounds quite like a wooden instrument. All 3 of the 300 series recorders are terrific, easy to play, and have great sound. However, for a beginner, the Yamaha YRA-28B is better suited to start as the upper register is more difficult to play well when first learning. This model is for more intermediate players and would be better suited for someone who has previously played a recorder. It is tremendous for the price!
