I bought this cymbal at a local music store and was very surprised! it's a good ride, but the crash cymbal sound is incredible! Buy this cymbal if you are a newbie, or a drummer on a budget like me!

This cymbal is one I use a lot. It works ok as a ride but extremely well as a crash ... one of the best crash rides I've played with in my opinion.

Works As A Ride, But Maybe Nicer As A Crash

I've had this cymbal for about two years now and it's holding up very well. At first I used it exclusively as a ride, then I picked up a ZBT 20" ride. I play in two bands. I found the Sabian worked well for one type of music (grunge/punk) while the Zildjian was nicer for the other (folk rock/singer somgwriter). Then yesterday on a whim, for the folk/singer songwriter group, I decided to set up the Sabian as my main crash, and use the ZBT as a ride, and my 16" B8 Thin Crash as a secondary crash. This setup really clicked!! So my advice is yes, the Sabian will work nicely as a ride, and is durable, but try it as a main crash. It has the warmth, wash, and sustain I've been looking for and haven't found in lower priced crashes from Sabian and Zildjian. After all this crash ride is essentially a medium crash anyway.

I bought this cymbal 2 weeks ago with a 14' hi hat, and at first the hi hat sounded bad, and the ride sounded awesome, aswell as it used as a crash. But later, the hi hat sounded awesome, then the hi hats sounded sick, but the ride now sounds like a bad crash, and the bell sounds like a lame cowbell

I got one of these in a cymbal pack about a year and a half ago for cheap as a close out, and at first I was pretty much satisfied with the exception of the bell which I thought was pretty weak sounding from the get go. I played an XS20 ride at a rehearsal last week and realised that it had more of the sound I was looking for, and was still very crashable despite being labeled as a pure ride. I think the B8 would be more effective as a medium crash rather than a ride, and I'd probably keep it around for that purpose, and rate it slightly higher for that type of use.

I have used this cymbal at a gig and, for the money it is kind of soso. it does not ride really well and, crashing on it sounds a little like a china but maybe I'm just biased cause I'm a avid zildjain guy.

I purchased this cymbal so I could expand my cymbal set up without spending $$$. I bought this cymbal at a local music store and I really enjoy the sounds it makes. I use it in my band as well as in church services and it always works. I like the ride sound. The bell isn't the best but it can make do. To me, When crashing, it almost sounds like a very large crash(e.g. 20 Inch crash). This is a great multipurpose cymbal... It is a great addition to a cymbal set to crash or ride on... The Zildjian ZBT isn't even close to the quality of this cymbal. If you want a larger cymbal setup but you are on a budget, buy this cymbal...

Well, I bought this as a replacement for a cracked Zildjian on the spot at a music store while I was at a gig out of state. It was the cheapest crash they had. After getting it, I am glad I did. I generally play hard, and this cymbal takes it like a champ. No cracks/wear outside the usual. After about 9 months now, it is still in great shape and I actually got another one...interestingly enough, they don't sound exactly the same either...so it works great. Would reccommend for a hard rock drummer, the price is great. I rarely use them for rides...maybe 2% of the time...usually just a crash fill.

My friend who bought my old set (kid set) got this cymbal and even though it is a crappy set, I look forward to band practices at his house just so I can play it, it has a nice low tone to it and sounds great with my set at home, if you didnt look at it it would sound similar to AA's or Z's (Zildjian) its a great deal for a nice cymbal.
