I use this in my karaoke singing and love it. Very quite and small. Have had it for over 2 years now and have never unplugged it. It just keeps going and going great sound and super value.
You can not go wrong with this unit.

This mixer has helped me through some tight spots, but the preamps are way too noisy. You might get by with a low noise condenser microphone, but with cheap condensers and definately dynamic microphones, way too much noise for high quality recording. It's useful for setting up a good headphone mix though, and probably for some simple recording jobs! A great mixer, though I don't trust the preamps to provide a noise-free signal. Also, the power cable's pins on the end that connects to the mixer have bent and twisted after 1 year - and the power adapter isn't exactly something you can pick up at the local electronics store.

I bought this mixer five years ago for our church setup. When I bought it, I used it to mix the church piano and keyboard into the system (on-the-spot controls). When we upgraded our system and acquired a sound booth manager, I did away with this control and allowed him to run the volume from the back. I then used it for an input gateway for our CD, Tape, and DVD players. We again upgraded, and I did away with this use. Our praise and worship team has also used this mixer on the road and at practice to hook instruments up to the system. Regardless of what crazy ideas I get to use this mixer for, it has always performed GREAT!

Ok, let's see.... How convenient is this ? It fits into a briefcase with my cables, microphone, reverb pedal - Vocal mic into channel 1, acoustic/electric guitar into channel 2, Variax/Pod into #3/4, my mp3 player into #5/6 for break music. Stereo reverb pedal into the EFX send, send the stereo mix into a power amp & speakers for a beautiful sound... Also, plug a pair of earbuds into the headphone jack for a great "monitor" mix during gigs - I bought a second unit for a spare, just in case - This is a great little mixer - I've used it for 30 gigs this year with zero problems - go get it....

I have nothing to compare with so I can't tell you if it colours the sound or not (however I wouldn't be surprised), but it certainly has serious hiss. Like enough hiss that it is a real problem even for non-professional use. The hiss comes when you turn up the "Main Mix" out knob so I keep that as low as possible and crank the channel levels. However if you do this too much you create internal distortion, even when the "peak" lights aren't lighting up. The best position for the "Mail Mix" knob is about 9 o'clock. ...

The hiss is a big issue. Also some of the knobs make noises when I turn them. It is kind of frustrating to use because it is not a quality piece of equipment, so to get something okay out of it is work. I've used it mostly for fooling around recording things into my computer. When I got it I knew nothing, so this was a good tool to learn with. Now that I know something, I'm thinking of upgrading, and I'm looking forward to the ease of dealing with some quality equipment!! ...
