Best. Import Axis style guitar.Yes it cost twice what the OLP Axis went for but it is worth ten times more due to better trem, neck, pickups and wiring. The Axis imports always had a great neck, now they have a great everything....except the beautiful top is not a thick piece of quilted maple....but if that floats your boat and is worth 1500. More to you this is a great floor plan to put it on! Then get the USA and have fully set up version.

The finish on the guitar was flawless. Very attractive to look at.
Experimenting with the selector switch and tone control can yield a wide variety of different sounds. some pleasing, some not.
The fret edges were capable of doing damage to the fingertips, and definitely needed fixing; something that should have been done at the factory. The vibrato tailpiece, in my opinion, is useless, it is difficult to operate and dips only, does not raise pitch.
It came with a straight neck, and the intonation was right on, but the strings were VERY high. When the strings were adjusted properly, the bridge pickup had to be lowered.
Its an OK guitar if you only have limited funds, and are a fair amateur or pro luthier, but if all you can do is play, find a good setup man, or avoid this one.

Comments about Sterling by Music Man SUB AX3 Axis Electric Guitar:
This guitar is Truly amazing. The feature I enjoy the most is the 5position pickup switch. It gives you two extra pickup tones that you don't normally get on a two pickup guitar. Making it extremely versatile for All Types of Music. With this I don't have to switch GUITARS for the different tones I select to play. ROCK, BLUES, JAZZ, FUNK...IT'S ALL THERE.

Comments about Sterling by Music Man SUB AX3 Axis Electric Guitar:
The Sterling Sub AX3 is probably one of the biggest bangs for the buck out there right now. I dont write reviews very often but considering my experience with this guitar I feel I have too.
The first thing I noticed about this guitar was the weight. Apparently its made from a wood called jabon but it honestly feels like mahogany. This guitar feels very solid and comfortable to play for hours. The hardware on this guitar feels very reliable and it has held tune very well. It even held its tuning after messing with the tremelo a bit. Which is very rare for a guitar in this price range that dosent have some kind of locking tuners. The guitar came with the action a tad bit higher than my liking after a few minutes of adjusting the action its setting quite low with ZERO fret buzz and ZERO dead frets. The craftsmanship in this guitar is very surprising. The neck just feels amazing its like the perfect cross between a Strat and a Les Paul. Also the wheel style truss rod adjuster makes it a breeze setting your neck relief.
This guitar sounds just as well as it plays. Im playing straight into a Fender Frontman 212R. The 5 way selecter and coil tapping can really help get some awesome tones. This guitar can go from jazz, blues, and country. To hard rock and metal in seconds. On higher gain settings I did not experience any feed back or muddy sounds. It was still very clear and you could hear all the notes being played.
I have been playing guitar for about 12 years now and this has to be one of the best deals out there. I have always been a big fan of the Ernie Ball Axis super sport and musicman stingray basses. This guitar does the musicman name very proud. Dont let the price fool you this is not just a beginners guitar. This is a players guitar. This is the guitar you play on stage when you dont want to bring your 1k+ Ernie Ball, Gibson, Fender etc. To some shady gig and risk messing it up. Its a very comfortable guitar to play with lots of versatile tones for lots of different styles. This guitar is also very easy to set up and work on the way everything is laid out. I highly recommend this guitar for a beginner, just for jamming, playing on stage, recording etc. I cant say enough good things about this guitar. Its well worth the money. Ive had and played alot of guitars. This thing can give a majority of midranged guitars a run for there money or just blow them out the water completely.

Comments about Sterling by Music Man SUB AX3 Axis Electric Guitar:
This is THE BEST low budget guitar I have ever played. Very fun to play, has a consistent sound, and looks killer (I have the trans black and picture does NOT do it justice). I will say that when you first get this guitar, it will need new strings and need setting up. I stuck with 9 gauge strings and asked the tech to raise the action just a little bit so that the tremelo would "float" and not have the tail end resting against the wood. My only major complaints are that the pick-ups sound under par for me, especially on higher gain stuff (a pair of dimarzios will take stock's place) however the electronics are very diverse, I love the five way switch, it really lets me do any style of music I want, and it needs locking tuners. For the most part it stays tune with the tremelo, but not always. Out of the box, the tremelo is very responsive, after having it setup, it's almost like having a floyd! (it's not perfect at dive bombs, but it's pretty close!) Overall, I would recommend this to anyone, whether it being a first electric guitar for somebody, or for a pro!

Comments about Sterling by Music Man SUB AX3 Axis Electric Guitar:
I found this guitar through an ad in a magazine. The first thing that attracted me was the user-friendly price. The design is a familiar one that reaches the perfect mix of different enough from the usual (Les Paul, Fender) type shape, and recognizable as the Music Man shape we've seen before.
Aesthetically, this guitar is amazing. Some seem to be weary of the body being printed on (?) Trust me, it still looks beautiful in person.
The weight of the guitar is very differently balanced from say, a telecaster. most of the weight is in the body so there's no neck dive (though that's what straps are for). The feel of the instrument is great, and when you factor in the low price of the guit, the feel of the instrument is stellar! The neck pocket is superbly carved, the vintage sytle temelo is solid, and to my surprise the electronics are quality.
The pickups provide 5 different tones that may seem the same upon first listen, but in a band environment you'll see just how distinct each position is. All around this is an amazing guitar period without considering the price. but if you DO consider the price, I would go as far as to say that this guitar is perfect. I recommend this to other players. Try one

Great feel, light weight. Great sound, easy to play, and looks and sounds great. One hell of a bargain for the price. The reviews I saw in Guitar Player on this guitar and some research clued me in and they were spot on. Feels like a guitar worth twice the price or more. Thank you, Sterling.

Plug it in and hit the distortion pedal and you're set. If you don't it still has a very sweet clean sound all by it's self. Pedals may help, but it just a great guitar. For the price you can't beat it.If you didn't buy one. sorry you missed the discount.
