OVERVIEW

Tremendous mid-range, bass response, and harmonics.

The DiMarzio DP389 Tone Zone T Tele Humbucker Bridge Pickup brings the performance of the famous Tone Zone to a humbucking Tele replacement pickup. Built-in is the tremendous mid-range and bass response of the original Tone Zone, and the same patented dual-resonance design produces great harmonics. 4-conductor wiring provides parallel humbucking and split-coil modes, so you can go from bang to twang at the flick of a switch.

Recommended For: Bridge position, Telecaster-style guitars.

Tech Talk: If you compare the specs of the full-size Tone Zone with those of the Tone Zone T, you will notice they don't match. That's because the trick in building a single-coil size pickup to sound like its big brother is to go for the sound rather than the numbers. DiMarzio also took into account the likelihood that the Tone Zone T will be installed in the classic slanted Tele bridge position, so they warmed up the higher frequencies and brightened the low notes a little to compensate.

  • Proven performance

like i said its a tone zone so you wont get that vintage tele spank. but if your like me and like the tele shape and want to play rock hard rock ect ect. you will love this pick up. just need to find a nice neck pup to go with it.

Comments about DiMarzio DP389 Tone Zone T Tele Humbucker Bridge Pickup:

I absolutely love this pickup. I used a Dimarzio 250k push/ pull pot to provide series/ parallel switching. IMHO, the parallel connection sounds vintage tele like alnico III spank with a good amount of tele character. Switched to the series connection the pickup takes on an entirely different character. Along the lines of a Gibson 498t with the tone knob @ 6. I believe a 500k pot would bring up the highs but honestly, I like the sound with the 250k. I installed the Tone zone t after I had bought a set of thank king pickups which were great but I needed a bit more punch in the mods and lower frequencies when using the bridge pickup. I was surprised by the exceptional performance of the tone zone t. It fit the bill perfectly and with the parallel option available, I can still get vintage tele tones and a fat lead tone on the bridge position. I still have the twang king in the neck position and feel it is a good match to add single coil blues tones. The twang king neck pickup is equipped with alnico v magnets and is very bright in sound and performs great when playing rhythm or leads. The Twang king / Tone zone combination has taken my squire classic vice 50's tele to a whole new level. I really liked it stock but now it has the ability to perform right along side the best of them. Great fat lead tones and vintage tele spank. Way to go Dimarzio on crafting affordable, quality aftermarket pickups!

Comments about DiMarzio DP389 Tone Zone T Tele Humbucker Bridge Pickup:

I put this in a cheap tele and wow was I amazed! It sounds so good that everyone that tries it wants to put it in one of their guitars. Compared to "other big name" dual blade single coil size pickups, this one takes the cake every time. In a tele with the tone at 10 its has serious bite but you can slowly roll off the tone for a huge array of tones. Its a 4 conductor pickup so you can tap the coils if you want true single coil tone. Very sensitive to pick attack and to rolling off the volume to clean up a gritty tone. If you play sparkly clean or want heavy rock tones, it will deliver in spades. Very clear and articulate even when its pushing a high gain amp. I like it paired with the DiMarzio True Velvet T in the neck position. Ive used it live and for recording. Its quiet in the studio and can really wail for live rock shows. I don't play country but it will deliver that true Tele spank and because its a humbucker, no 60 cycle hum and its warmer and fatter than a regular single coil.

Comments about DiMarzio DP389 Tone Zone T Tele Humbucker Bridge Pickup:

As my title states, this is a perfectly wound pick-up for your Tele, and really for any use. Super-versatile and nice output. Split it, and the versatility doubles.
I originally installed a full DiMarzio Area T pick-up system on this one, this one being a made in China 50's vibe (which incidentally in and of itself is an outstanding instrument for the price, or any Tele price tag for that matter) and although it REALLY beefed up my sound from the original factory set-up. I was looking for juuuust a bit more mid and (when needed) crunch. Playing alone with the neck pick-up adds a great nasally tone, almost like you bumped up your reverb a bit.
This was the perfect fix, I am finding myself playing this more so than my LP... THAT says a lot! LOL

Great pickup. The wiring instructions included have every possible scenario you could think of for installation. In my case I installed it in a cheap Gitano Tele and the sound is fantastic. Added push-pulls to go single coil and phase shifting (one of the many wiring diagram included with pickup) and now I have a great sounding guitar.

Comments about DiMarzio DP389 Tone Zone T Tele Humbucker Bridge Pickup:

I bought this pickup to replace a Seymour Duncan hot rails which I thought was a bit muddy. The Tone Zone has a much fatter, cleaner humbucking sound. Dimarzio rates the highs of this pickup a bit less than their chopper, and the mids and lows a bit more than the chopper. I have one of these Tone Zones in my strat as well and it sounds great! I installed a tap switch in both guitars that allows single coil use. This pickup in single coil mode, is as good as any Tele I have ever heard. Lots of Twang! It does help to use a No-Load tone pot for the true tele snap. Without a no load tone pot, the highs are not quite as crisp. No-load tone pots are cheap ($8.00) and easy to install. I would highly advise using one, as well as a coil tap. This pickup is very fat when not tapped, but not muddy like the SD. I would highly recommend this pickup for anyone who wants a beefier Tele, but wants to have the Twang available if needed.
