Please to meet you, 59er!!

This pickup surprised me, because it's the first time I actually heard a pickup growl. I man really, recognizably growl when playing chords with the amp pushed.

And the leads . . . for the first time, yes the very first time, people in the audience where shouting out 'allright', 'yeah', 'woohoo', when I soloed. Never happened to me before, made me feel good.

This pickup does not sound like the single coil Tele pickups it replaces. It sounds like a growling beast. I'm going to build a second Tele for the single coil, so I don't lose that tone.

I did set it up so the middle position coil-splits the 59er in such a way that it hum-cancels with the neck pickup. The middle position is really darn nice and dang near authentic Tele twang. Not quite the same thing, a little hotter and brighter, but in a good way.

If you are planning to build a second Tele, drop this 59er in there and experience the growl and make your happy audience cheer. The tone hits a good nerve somehow.

Comments about Seymour Duncan ST59-1 Little 59 Telecaster Pickup:

I listened to alot of clips on u tube. This pickup was on sale. Love the sound. I want to to do a parts Tele/Esquire maybe pinecaster. I'm also contemplating a short scale conversion Tele neck to 24 and 3/4 scale. At the very least it might be fun in the parts caster I just had converted to a Nashville Tele. With the MF Black Friday sale, I couldn't resist picking this up. Really, go on line, and listen to the sound clips. Will write another review when built.

Really fattens up the bridge but still holds onto that tele bite. Through vox AC 30 it reminded me of Mays sound on the Jazz album.

Comments about Seymour Duncan ST59-1 Little 59 Telecaster Pickup:

Installed in a '90 American Std Tele. Bridge pickup was weak and I wanted a little more grit. It is close to a p90 - PAF HB sound.....which I love....but I have a Gibson SG with custom wound p90's and a Gibson LP with Bill Lawrence HBs. I was hoping it kept more of the Tele sound....but with more output and grit than the stock pup. And it does retain some original sound and tone....but leans more toward the p90. So I guess if a Tele is your only axe and you want the Gibson sound....then this is an excellent pickup. Contrary to what others have written, I find it does not pair well with the stock neck pup....at least with my noiseless. I am struggling on whether to keep it since I do like it, install a better matching neck pup, and then get another Tele to customize a bit with higher output and grittier single coils, or just swap the little 59 in this Tele. I am not at all complaining about the pickup....it sounds fantastic...but just too close to what I already have in other guitars. Hope this helps....

Comments about Seymour Duncan ST59-1 Little 59 Telecaster Pickup:

This pickup replaced the old stock bridge in my MIM tele. 3 way with stock neck pickup. Wow what a nice difference! With overdrive and distortion this thing sings like no other. I play rock, hard rock, blues, cleans, and dabble on a little metal with this. The cleans are really nice for a humpbucker. In the middle position it's a little straty like. Very useable tone in middle. As far as twang i noticed that it actually has some okay twang to it. No, not as much as the stock but still noticeable. You can no doubt get away with playing country with this. Ideal? Probly not. Middle position also produces some descent twang. What this thing does better then the stock is blues and rock tones! Wow! So much improvement. Leads sound 10x better with this pup! I can actually solo with my tele now. The old pickup the notes wouldn't ring out clearly and was terribly noisy and had no balls with distortion. You can play metal with this but it's not ideal for it. There's better options out there. Better for hard rock but not so much metal. With a good amount of gain you kinda hear a little twangy squeel to it. I like this sound. Great for southern bluesy rock kinda sounds. If you have a tele and wanna play rock n roll with it, or blues I would look no further. Great versatility while keeping some of that tele character.

Comments about Seymour Duncan ST59-1 Little 59 Telecaster Pickup:

I bought this pup to replace a shrill sounding bridge pup in a Tele that I built from parts. The Little '59 provides a more balanced tone with SD mini humbucker neck pup. It has a much beefier tone.. I play blues and RnR - this pup provides the tone I need whether alone or with the neck pup. Before, I could not use the bridge alone as it was too shrill for the type of music I play.

Tired of that thin tinny twang expected from most Teles? I was, and just because some people love that tone does not mean we all do. Drop this monster in the bridge position and stand back. My Tele now sounds like its wearing big boy pants instead of diapers. Honestly, its like a Les Paul Junior which is exactly what I was hoping. Combined with a Rio Grande Muy at the neck and its lights out.

Very good tone, much like a Les Paul, but still a tele. I use this on my tele that is tuned a half step down, and ofte drop D. I miss a little bit of the twang, but still fantastic!

Great for more versatility from Teles

Comments about Seymour Duncan ST59-1 Little 59 Telecaster Pickup:

Single coil mode-more like a cross between a stock Tele and a hot Strat. In humbucking mode it sounds like a brighter version of a full-size PAF. I installed it with a push-pull volume pot to switch modes. Combined it with a Gibson ceramic humbucker in the neck position installed similarly.

Comments about Seymour Duncan ST59-1 Little 59 Telecaster Pickup:

I just purchased this pickup and installed it in a 2006 Anniversary Tele Diamond Edition. The sound coming out of this tele is so awesome! I still kept my 52ri Tele American Vintage Neck pickup and im so glad i did, cause it works perfect with the lil 59. SOund is buttery, highs are now controlled and leads are just plain awesome!Note: the installation diagram states that one must reverse the green and black wires if youre installing it on a tele with a fender neck pickup. I did that. But originally I also connected the bare wire with the green and that messed up my whole sound. Remember, the Bare wire must always go to ground. SO I changed it to the black and bare and wow! Simply Amazing.
